Hey everyone,

I'm a recent grad with a low pre-requisite GPA (2.3). Many of these courses I took in the beginning of my University career and did poorly in. Overall my CGPA is 3.5 due to the fact that I worked really hard in my last 2 years. I do have a BSc (Honours Kin).

I just wanted to know if it would be worth it for me to re-do all my pre-requiste courses at another University and then apply for DPT programs. Will most programs take my most recent grades, or will they average out the two?

Hopefully someone can help me out.

Thanks

Hey! So there are a couple of things to keep in mind. Your cumulative GPA looks really good, good job on working so hard to bring that up. However, MOST schools have a minimum pre-req GPA cut off around 3.0 and won't look further at applicants with any pre-req grades below a C. So, if any grades are below a C, you will have to retake them. As far as retaking them at another school, you will have to contact the schools you are looking to apply and see what their policies are. I believe most schools accept the new grade but it does depend. Also, different schools take the second grade differently. Some may average them, or one may take your second grade, or your better grade. It really depends on the school with most of this stuff so I would call your top choices and see what they are looking for. I would also take advantage of this site, I have seen countless acceptances from applicants with a GPA/ pre-req GPA just below a 3.0 so there are other factors considered. I just feel it would be most advantageous to retake the important classes such as biology, or anatomy to bring that GPA up if you have the opportunity. I hope this helps! Good luck! 🙂

Would a C- be considered below a C?

In most situations, yes. But there are frequent enough exceptions that you may want to call the schools you're really interested in just to make sure.
