Hi. I have an upcoming interview at Upstate, but I also have several acceptances. I'm wondering whether I should still go to my interview. I already have acceptances at BU and Jefferson and Downstate. Please give your opinion as to what you would do and the reasons for your answer. Also, what are Upstate's strengths?

Thanks!!

If you don't know why you should visit Upstate, why would you even go to Upstate (if accepted) over your other acceptances?

well, it depends. brooklyn is as good as upstate, maybe even better. BU and Jeff are both great schools but alot more money. i'd go if you prefer the country to the city, or just to check it out. overall, i can't think of compelling reasons to attend there.

I am trying to figure out what compelling reasons there are which would make Upstate a better choice than the other schools (aside from tuition), that's why I started this post. Any other comments would be greatly appreciated.

Their best selling point of upstate in my view was that they have a cool program in rural medicine. if that's your bag then upstate could be a good choice.
I must say though that when i interviewed there it didn't seem like they had put as much organization into their curriculum or as much emphasis on 1st and 2nd year clinical exposure as downstate does. unless you have a compelling reason to be in central ny or you just dislike the big city I would lean more towards bu or downstate.

Thanks for your response absolute. I am from a large city, so it's not that I don't want to be in a big city--I do. I just wanted to hear what you guys think of the school. Any other responses?
Thanks.

one last thing, if it's not too far, then you might as well go. hotel rooms are 45/night and it's only a 4 hr. drive from ny so you don't have much to lose.
