Hey folks,

I am sure I am just wigging out but do adcoms look favorably on upward GPA progress? In other words, each semester you go, your GPA gets better. I started the post-bacc pre-med program this fall at Harvard Extension school. I am doing well but I doubt I will get straight As. I am still getting back into the swing of going to school. Historically, it has taken me a semester or so to find my groove.

Thanks!

I'm hoping that GPA trends are as important as the numbers themselves too. I think that this will come into play further along in the admissions process (i.e. after getting through an initial screen).

An upward trend is always key because an upward trend always indicates improvement, while a downward trend often indicates slacking- or that things started out easy, and you couldn't handle it when they got harder.

GPA trends arent very important so stop worrying about your grades so much and relax because your gpa average cant go down that much in one semester unless you fail eerything.

I'm pretty sure adcoms look favorably on upward GPA progress, as long as there is no recent sharp decline in GPA. My GPA during my first year in college was not that good, but my grades kept improving ever since then. Even though I didn't graduate with a super stong GPA, it was still noticed by some of the adcoms. In some of my interviews, the interviewer(s) said they liked that I had improved during my last couple years even though my overall gpa wasn't stellar.

upward trends are definitely important. my gpa is not very good at all, but it went up steadily. interviewers at 3 of the schools i applied to noticed the upward trend and said that it was good i improved.
