So, quick question. So my first year of undergrad I had all A's except for an A- in Chem 101, but I had an A in Chem 102 (3.96 cGPA/3.90 sGPA). I read quite a bit in the DO forum that Upward Trends are good, but with transferring schools (small private to large public) I fear that I could possibly take my first B in Orgo even if I do really well (also taking Gen Bio 2 and 2 history classes). How would DO schools view a "dip" or even a slight downward trend in cGPA/sGPA? I am confident in myself but I still get anxious about Orgo, and even more anxious about the future upper level classes Ill be taking (Biochem, etc). Any advice or past applicant stories would be helpful, also any tips for Orgo would be nice, lol, already ordered my Orgo as a Secobd language (textbook also by Klein so they should complement each other nicely).

Thanks!

A single B in Orgo is not going to keep you out of any med school.

Re: Tips for Orgo. If you are memorizing everything then you are doing it wrong. There will be some memorization involved, but the majority of problems can be solved while using a process and remembering the core foundation concepts that are from gen chem and the beginning of orgo 1, pay very special attention to the beginning and make sure your notes from the first chapter or two are easy to find, because I referred back to them very regularly. If you try and remember everything, you will do very poorly. Honestly, I found orgo to be easier than gen chem because I am terrible at math/remembering equations.

Furthermore, if you are stressing about a single B that hasn't even happened yet then this process will likely eat you alive, just relax, do your best, and things will turn out how they are supposed to 🙂

Best of luck
