It pretty just means exactly what it says. you are waitlisted for an interview invite. Everyone that ultiamtely gets an interview, gets the waitlist.
I got the same about 2 weeks before my actually II for 3/27. They also have multiple rounds of interviews, this is only the first.

Thank you so much! It is my only interview in two cycles, so it is prep time and praying it works out! Since they really only evaluate your last degree, my master's gpa is a 3.69 (an SMP) and my most recent MCAT is a 504.
Thank you.

so should I start preparing for the interview on 3/27, even if im waitlisted for it? They said the next round was in July which seems far away. But does this basically mean im gauranteed an interview at some point, or that all the spots are already filled?

The waitlist does NOT garuntee you an interview, it is just that everyone who gets the II had to be waitlisted first. As compared to US schools, it is just an extra step between app complete and II.

But July seems pretty far away, so it is quite early to start preparing. I also know they interview until September, so it could be then too. Hard to really know, but I think the only dates that are actually filled are those in March. It never hurts to start preparing early though, but nothing is really garunteed. My philosphy is to only prepare for something if I know forusre it is happening. I pretty much just started preparing once I got the II myself.

okay thanks that makes sense. How long were you on the waitlist before you got the interview?

How long does it take to get an interview response? Applied 2 weeks ago but have not received a response. Will the current round of interviews have to finish before they offer more?

Any interview invite tips? Anyone know what percent of interviewees get the A?

Hey guys! Quick question. I am taking the MCAT June 27 of this year, so won't get my score back until end of July. Do you think thats too late to submit an application for 2026 intake? I know they have some interview rounds in Sept/Oct, but surely they've accepted most of the class by then, so just wondering if I should take my chances, or wait until early 2026 to apply.

Hey all! I submitted an app, got the II, and completed the MMI on 3/27. From prior years, it looks like turnaround times is something like 3 weeks (usually on Monday). Good luck to everyone else! Does anyone have any idea on the number of applications they receive? I've heard it's near 1000, maybe even more.

In general, earlier application comes with more spots available. At the same time, applying this cycle can still be a valid approach for 3 reasons. The first is that while markedly slimmer, your chances of getting in are non-zero. The second is that there is no penalty if you apply and do not get in this cycle; in fact, there might very well be an incentive because they automatically "roll" your application into the next cycle (with your consent) and place you in the first round of interviews for the next year. Thirdly, and perhaps most importantly, applying this cycle will allow you to experience the MMI an additional time if you are not successful in getting in. You will understand UQ-Ochsner's questions better, the format better, and yourself better! All told, if you are able to apply, do so!

Got the A! Would any current UQ-Ochsner students be willing to talk?

Congrats! I also got the acceptance today! Alot faster turnaround than expected! Feeling so grateful to finally be going to medical school! I already accepted the offer 😀

But they have tons and tons of info sessions on thier youtube channel (and website too), I recommend checking out, if no current students respond. I ended up watching a bunch before my interview that included various topics from both current students and alumni. Super helpful in getting a lot better understanding of the program, as well as what living in Brisbane and New Orleans will be like.

Congrats!! Yes, that was a very quick turnaround.
Thank you! I will definitely take a deeper look into those videos. I briefly browsed through some prior to the interview lol
DM'd you with some questions.

Hello, do you guys know if this program looks at postbacc grades? I will obviously be reaching out to them but just wanted to see if anyone knew

They calculate GPA based on last obtained degree. If the post-bacc is just courses, they will combine it with your undergrad grades. If it is an SMP, they will just take the grades within the degree.
