UQ-Ochsner 2026

Current Ochsner here feel free to ask any questions
When you accept the offer of admission, do they require anything like a Dean's certification or letter? What is the process like applying for loans or international school visa?

@kh382 There's quite a bit after you receive an offer. You have to pay for OSHC (overseas health insurance), a deposit, apply for your visa, and then complete all of the WIL requirements for UQ. (Look up UQ Ochsner WIL requirements for more info on this - but it's stuff like an FBI background check, vaccinations, CPR/First Aid, etc). They also require the deposit which I believe was around 2 or 3k (can be paid by credit card) within 3 weeks in order to secure your place, however the OSHC you can hold off on for a bit. The Visa application process can take some time. The big hold up is you will most likely have to travel to another state in order to do the required check up with the Australian board approved physician. Sometimes these appointments can be tough to get, but after that they generally approve the visa pretty quickly.

Hi! What areas of Brisbane do most students live in? I am starting to look at the living situation
@whatsupdennys The three main places are either St Lucia, South Bank, and Brisbane (CBD). St Lucia is closest to main campus (walking distance) but it's more of a suburban vibe. South Bank is a 10 minute bus ride to both main campus and the learning hospitals (good for 2nd year), and then Brisbane is further (about 20 minutes by bus), and it's the main city here. I personally like South Bank due to it's close proximity to everything and it also still has the city feel with lots of restaurants and bars.

Do they send out more information and how/when to complete the WIL requirements to our email or on the UQ portal or anything like that? Or did you kind of complete this all independently outside of UQ’s guidance? I already paid my deposit, OSHC, and my student visa has even been approved already. But haven’t heard anything from them since.

But for now, ill just look up what thier website says about the WIL requirements.

Thank you so much!

Yep they'll tell you everything you need

Has anyone heard back about interviews. Was wondering if there was any movement on this.

The last day to apply for this interview cycle is July 7, so they probably won't send out invites until after then

I received one last week but declined as I received an acceptance off a US MD waitlist
Congratulations for your USMD acceptance,
Will you mind sharing when you applied for UQ-Ochsner MD admission ?
I applied on June 1st and still waiting for interview.

Anyone here who got in and wouldn't mind explaining how to prepare for the interview?
