I had deferred my matriculation last year into a med school and was instructed by the school to submit my application again this year for matriculation in fall of 2022. However, when I am selecting the med school, there is no deferred applicant option to select, just Regular MD, MD/PhD, etc. There is a notice that says that to select the deferred/delayed applicant program type I may need prior permission for my school which I ostensibly should have. They granted me the deferral and told me to submit AMCAS again. But the option is not there.
I have emailed the school but I am unsure of what to do! The deadline to submit is the 15th and since it is the weekend I don't think that they're going to respond to me in time. I'm really worried about not submitting in time and am not sure if that will bar me from proceeding with the deferral. I am also considering just submitting by selecting Regular MD, but I'm assuming that will put me in the regular pool of applicants and I am not sure if it is possible to remove me from that pool and mark me as a deferred applicant. Plus, I'd have to pay the 170 if I proceeded with the Regular MD option.
Would really appreciate any adcom member or anyone with knowledge of how deferral works in the AMCAS system to offer guidance. Thanks in advance!
