I have read a lot of the application procedures on the ADEA website, but I am still confused. When it says that when you indicate the email address of your evaluator(s) on the application, your evaluators will receive instructions on uploading the LOE electronically. Is this the same thing as Interfolio or not? So, would the evaluators need to have an Interfolio account to upload the LOE directly to ADEA AADSAS?

If it's not the same thing as Interfolio, why would you use Interfolio at all given that this method doesn't require any money?

No the recipients of your request do not need to do anything other than follow the instructions per the email they receive. They will not need interfolio. What is interfolio anyways?

It's separate from Interfolio. I think the benefit of Interfolio is that they save your letters whereas if you have your recommendations stored into the AADSAS system they are not carried over to the next cycle.

OP, correct, they will not need interfolio. The reason why people use interfolio is because it's useful to save letters (for a future cycle, or even a scholarship), and it can also have you set an earlier deadline for your writers. One of my professors is a notorious procrastinator, so I told him the letter was due May 20. If I had used AADSAS's direct link email, I feel like he would have waited until the day it opened June 4th, or even later. I didn't want the stress of that while I wrote my statement.

For those interested in interfolio, the time it took Interfolio to send my letters to AADSAS was barely 2-3 days, so it was very prompt, and I have all of my letters should I need them in the future.
