I know on the surface these fields appear pretty different but I wonder how they compare for someone who:
1) enjoys technology
2) wants to do procedures (if I did IR I would want to do 50 IR 50 DR as opposed to 25 IR 75 DR)
3) wants a relatively good life style - somewhere in between derm and gen surg. Not lazy, just want to enjoy life outside of medicine
4) wants to be fairly paid - money to hrs worked is more important than just money made
5) laid-back
I realize that neither specialty is a lifestyle field but I would like to know how they compare. I know situations can vary a lot but I envision myself as working in a nice location in a suburban or urban area.
On a related funny side note the "oracle" at my school said she sees me as someone who wants to do procedures but
1) having the build for ortho but not the personality - "Bone broken, must fix"
2)not having the typical build for optho or urology (hands too big for DRE's?
lol"
3) too laid-back for GSurg
Thanks in advance for responses and excuse any pre-conceptions I may have about either field
