US Atlantic Bridge Program 2014

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Anyone got an acceptance letter lately? From any school? To any program?

I want to know if they're still sending them...

Are you still keeping up hope?

I've kind of decided that if I don't get an acceptance letter this week that my chances are pretty slim.

The second round of offers starts almost immediately after UL releases first round offers. I got into UL the last week of April last year and into UCD the first week of May.

Hope this helped.

hey, called AB yesterday and today is the last date for TCD first round offers. Trinity and NUIG will start second round offers after Easter. that's all I know!

Dear @Steele what can I say, I am losing any hope I had, but I am trying to keep at least one thread of hope.

@CHRONOS7 that actually does help, thank you so much. I'll keep hoping.

@mizD that is great news, after Easter then. 🙂

This is great news! There is hope after all. I thought that second round offers had already went out. Maybe I counted my chickens too soon.

@Steele @surgeon14 I know I was pretty happy to hear it haha. the guy was super friendly and helpful on the phone. so don't lose hope! I haven't! yet...:nailbiting:

APB said several schools have already sent out rejections. Anyone gotten any for schools besides RCSI and are willing to share?

I didn't get any rejection letter yet. I am happy about that, but its also kinda weird especialy for RCSI because I didn't even get an interview. :|

@mizD so they said today they were still sending out offers for TCD first round?
ya yesterday was the last day. he used the word "expiration" lol. so all 1st round offers are already out. after Easter, 2nd round offers will start going out. he said he expects both schools (TCD and NUIG) to send 2nd round offers, so it's not like they're just doing 1st rounds and then stopping there. keeping my fingers crossed.....

did you apply to RCSI-MUB?

Did he mention if UCD and UCC will send out second round offers?
no bc i didn't ask. i didnt apply to those schools, only to the schools that don't require the MCAT, bc i only took my MCAT this month!
but just call and ask, they were really really nice on the phone.

I have not gotten a rejection from anywhere either so does this mean we are effectively on the wait list for all schools?

Not really.

The vast majority of the rejections don't start to roll out until the end of April/ early-May, most are out by the end of June I would say (if I remember correctly). If it's July or August and you still haven't received an offer or rejection from one or more universities then you could kind of consider yourself on a 'wait list' of sorts.

There is a lot of movement after the Canadian offers come out on May 15th since the majority of the Atlantic Bridge applicants are Canadian.

I mean on the website and in the questions doc they send you when you apply, it says if you haven't received any rejections, you can consider yourself to be waitlisted. so that's what I'm thinking. they also say (in the doc) that we may not even find out till as late as Aug/Sept......when other kids reject the offers, or when they finally make a decision about waitlisted kids......and I'm reaaaaaally hoping they don't wait that long to tell me because I actually have a life and things to do outside of this -_-

interesting. it takes so long!!!!! this wait is killing me ugh

I mean I can't even work unless I know I'm going to school or not in the fall. besides short internship stints, like what I'm doing now, nobody will give me a fulltime research associate position, even though I'm qualified, bc they don't want to commit to someone who may up and peace halfway through.

@CHRONOS7 you said you got accepted to Limerick last year, I have an interview there next week, how long after the interview does one usually find out?
Is it via email?

I think all offers come via FedEx, or regular post if you went with that option.

I don't remember the exact timing of it last year but I interviewed around April 20th (give or take a day), and I know I had my offer before the end of the month. I think I found out about a week after the interview.

Fedex will probably hate my for this, but you guys can call FedEx and ask them if you've got anything being delivered to your address, and if you do you can ask where it's from. If it's from Atlantic Bridge you can bank on it being an offer since rejections come via regular post.

Well in regards to rejections they said people have already been rejected for several schools so that must mean the applicant pool has shrunk quite a bit.

So I hate to burst anyone's bubble, but the stress of waiting won't necessarily end soon. I know I wasn't accepted in the first round, so I spoke with my dad (a physician in Toronto) about my chances. He spoke with one of his fellows who went to an Irish school, and he said he wasn't accepted until June. So don't give up hope until you physically have a rejection letter!! Stay strong! Good luck

Congrats ECRobes!

Hi everyone - first-time poster here. Does anyone have some interview tips to share for UL and RCSI Bahrain?

Check the UL Interview thread.

Shweddies and I covered it extensively.

Hey, I know I'm probably looking for the tiniest grain of hope, but, my understanding was that the letter of recommendation/reference letters were due May 1st, though what I am reading now, they were due April 1st. Would it be too late to send them in now (and would it affect my chances) if I'm looking to be considered for the sept 2014 programs?

So I just got off the phone with ABP, they said that there is no one in the waiting list yet, the reason I didn't get any offer is because my application is still processing and no decision have been made regarding me yet.

Botton line is (no one in the waiting list yet).

Well some people have definitely already been rejected as they told me several schools have sent out rejections.

This is good news!

I'm a current undergraduate, who is graduating but hasn't taken the MCAT. Applied to all 5/6 year programs (UCC,UCD,TCD,NUIG,RCSI). Not sure how much hope I should hold out. They sent me this thing saying if I make it until the end of April, my application is considered on "reserve". Should I expect something in the next week or two? Being on reserve at all 5 schools would drive me nuts. All of my applications are still active and no final decision has been made on them.

Hang in there, the second round of offers starts when the schools get back from their Easter break, which was probably today.

What do you mean by MUB? I applied to all schools for the 5/6 year program.
@ECRobes congrats girl
@halobeast I think its better if you called ABP about that..

Hey my fellow applicants, its Monday after Easter. Who's having their hopes up for the second round of offers? I know I am :soexcited:
RCSI-MUB = RCSI medical university of bahrain
and lol yup in the same boat as you my friend

Hello, morning fellows..
@mizD Although my home is only 2 hours drive to Bahrain, I didn't apply to it. If you asked me why I would say its because I don't like it there for several reasons:
1- problems with the government,
2- Although its considered a branch or RCSI, its still under Arabic management, and they lack integrity if I may use that word.
3- I know that they treat students differently, so because I am from the middle east they would treat me unfairly as oppose to other nationalities.

I got this from my friends who is studying there, I am not saying its bad, its just not for me.

Good luck :hello:

Hey guys! I am new to this forum. I am from Vancouver, BC, and I have applied to RCSI's 5-year medical program. I have not yet heard back from them - no interview and no rejection. Has anyone else that applied to the 5 year program received an interview? Does anyone know if/when RCSI will be sending out second round offers?

I am a US citizen with a BS in Neuroscience. What would be my chances of getting an acceptance into one of the 5 year programs during the 2014-2015 admissions cycle with the following stats:

3.5 GPA
Over 3000 hours volunteering
President of multiple clubs during undergrad
3 years undergraduate Toxicology research
3 Publications
Presented poster presentations at two international meetings
Volunteer and paid Paramedic for three years
Former Anatomy and Physiology Lab Instructor at an University
Lab TA and tutor for Anatomy and Physiology and Neuroscience during undergrad

I have not taken the MCAT yet, but plan to very soon

Thanks in advance for any comments!

I don't know why you're applying to Ireland with those stats. Go to a US school.

Hey guys!

I have applied to Ireland as well and have been reading this thread over the past few months. I wanted to thank you all for helping me remain calm during this stressful wait !🙂

Any second round news yet?
