Dear SDNers,

I would like to know which dental schools have p/f system for undergraduate dental education (not for residency programs)...
I googled it but couldn't find any info.

any comments?

Thanks in advance

UCSF does for sure and I think UCLA does too (correct me if I'm wrong)

as far as I know Columbia,Ucla, harvard, ucsf has pas/fai or pas,pas proficient and fail

Do these schools have class rankings? If not, do you just have to have great board scores or is it the school rep. that will get you into a specialty?

board scores, letters of rec, school's rep all help with getting into specialty. but for ranking...its board scores.

UConn has a pass/fail system too. I know specifically for UConn that although they have a pass/fail system the school keeps a personal record of the students' grades in order to help them assess those who are interested in specializing. So students who want to specialize should not work to pass and score high on the boards but also need to keep those grades up!

pass/fail = cop out! compete like a man! 😎

ucla has pass/fail system and i felt dirty when i took it my freshman year for this chem class. it's such a cop out feeling like i didnt have the balls and confidence to get an A.

i suppose, but it's also a relief cuz you don't always have to be stressed out about getting an A. all you have to aim for is to pass, and i think this may actually help you to learn the material better since you don't have the burden of a grade stickin over your head...

Thanks for your replies,

Does anyone know of any Canadian dental schools that use the Pass/Fail system or they all use the regular grading system?

Sorry, double post 😀
