Officially at noon, but the results were emailed to us at 6:00 am last year. In the past, the AF had posted the results in one Excel file with everyone's name, rank, spacialty, and location on the physician education website for the whole world to see. I hear that this year things might be a little more private.

Anybody heard anything regarding the number of GMO's coming back this year and how that reportedly will effect the match outcome? Seems like unless numbers went up this year will end up sending a bunch of people into PGY-1 slots and then GMO tours unless the USAF increases deferrments. Also wondering if there are other specialties besides ENT and ortho that are log jammed with field applicants, interns, and medical students due to the point system. I know that rads has designated almost half of their slots to med studs but as for the others have never heard that.

I can only speak for EM, but it seems as if the the GMO's are finishing up their commitments and leaving the Air Force. EM got fewer applications this year than expected. On top of that, no one applied for any of the EM fellowships.

How can you say that rads is designating spots for medical students? I thought spots were given out based on the point system, and not to any particular group. In fact, rads got so few applications this year that the application deadline for people applying to that specialty was pushed back.

As far as the "designating spots" for students go I got that straight from the horses mouths. Spoke with both the program directors and they have a standing policy that while the point system is in play 4 slots are typically reserved as medical student only. Found that out at the residency night one year....now it is certainly possible given their numbers this year they may not play by those rules.

Hopefully the field guys that stayed didn't all apply for ENT🙂 it kinda stink having to spend money on civilian interviews before I know what's up.

What is the "physician education website" Is it in AFIT? Thanks.
