I have Competitive stats and started the HPSP process as soon as i could. Ive had 3 interviews already and the issue is that my family wants me to increase my odds and apply to all branches of the HPSP. HOWEVER, I made the mistake of working with the USAF first and this recruiter is getting annoying. i talked to other branches and they don’t care but the USAF is acting like im committing treason before I even know if I’ll get the scholarship…therefore, it’s annoying me because it is a scholarship and it’s not even submitted yet, this is just the preliminary phase of the packet buildup. I have taken my time and submitted all the info including the ss # of all the people In my family come 10 generations lol and this dude is still like ”you sure?!” Which kinda bothers me A little. 1. Why is the USAF so elitis and 2. Why do they think they are the best? I know they wanna keep it competitive so in the end they will gain the best applicants cuz they receive many applicants Nation wide…. but I don’t feel a god complex so I wanna diversify my options Because if I feel like if I don’t i won’t get an HPSP….Tasked to navy, they don’t care. Talked to army they don’t care. So, why is this dude acting like a jealous bf when he sees me around other ppl. LOL. anyone else having this issue with the USAF?

I think I’ll follow my buddies and go to the navy. It seems like the navy is more middle ground and comprehensive. If I don’t get the HPSP, can I re-apply with a MS? Does it matter where it’s from or where I attend or if it’s online vs in person? Because the AF guy is all about me getting a recommendation from the president 🤣 (or it’s not enough)
Honestly, the HPSP has gotten so competitive, I’d push to apply to all 3.

Just be patient and apply to all 3. You never know which one you will get. I was put on the OML for the army and got the Navy instead. I thank god everyday for that…

I applied Air Force and interviewed, guy who interviewed me said “I never do this but I’m going to highly recommend you to the board”.

Wasn’t even an alternate.

Navy took me anyway and it worked out 🤷‍♂️

Went Navy HPSP. They paid for my school. Gave me $2K/month stipend. Spent 4 years serving back. Ups and downs. Got great dental experience and great life experience. Would 100% take the same steps if I could do it again. Made me incredibly competitive for endo residency. Used GI bill for residency. Out as a specialist with zero debt and great earning potential. Air Force can’t offer you more than that. Take any branch you can get. It’s an amazing opportunity. Just utilize it.

So this may be dumb question but were you on a ship or stationed on land?

Land for 3 years, ship for 2 years. Ship was a much more fortifying experience. One of those things you don’t want to do, but gives you great experience and perspective. Would highly recommend.
