i'm hesitating whether or not to apply to USC.. this fall
is there someone here who's currently enrolled at USC?
or just anoyne who can tell me about the USC pharmacy school (pharm D) more than its website/video tour says?

oh and also i would like to know what PCAT score would be good
currently i have gpa 3.9 i'll try to keep that up BUT i'm lacking extra curr and experience...

PCAT isn't required, I didn't bother with it. I got in with a 3.49/3.59 cum/sci and limited experience. Though I'm a little older so I think my work experience that was non-pharmacy may have been looked at positively. With a 3.9 it depends on how well you interview and how well you can articulate your applicaton/PS.
 
I received a lack letter regarding the pre-req classes that I am missing. However, there is an error. It says that I am lacking in one bio class but I already took it. Who do I contact regarding this mistake? Do I just reply to the lack email that I received? 😕

should be a phone number in the email, but otherwise replying to the email should be fine.
 
Anyone submitted their app in Early October and still havent heard anything from USC yet?

I am kind of getting antsy about this

I turned my applications early September. Still no word too.
 
First, I would check your spam filter for any emails from USC.

Second, I would then call them and ask them about your file. Make sure you have your PharmCas ID and USC assigned Student ID #.

I had the same problem, but I called about it and was able to resolve things easily. They were very nice and helpful.

I turned everything in early October and my file was complete Oct 10.

I submitted mine at the beginning of August and received a lack letter (forgot when...I think it's in September). I still haven't heard from them since. I hope they didn't forget about me. 🙁
 
The only thing I got from USC was a lack letter. They're probably contacting people with really high GPA's first before contacting the rest.

I know I didn't make the cut for their 2nd interview date either. 2 more dates to go! :scared:

How long did it take you to get a lack letteR?

I still have not gotten a lack letter from them and its starting to worry me. The only thing i have gotten from them is the acknowledgement form saying that my application was complete. No other letter stating that what courses i am lacking.

Submitted in late sept / early oct.

Any one in the same boat as i am?

If your application is complete and they acknowledged that, should you even be getting a lack letter? I had all my pre-req's completed but I got a lack letter because I forgot to send them my transcripts. I thought transcripts via PharmCAS was sufficient but I was wrong and I'm sure my app got placed at the end of the queue after they finally received my transcripts. 🙁

hey...i had the whole transcript problem too. They ended up withdrawing my application because they never received my transcrips by the deadline...sucks i know

I also contacted Mr. Jim Granderson about two months ago and he said will the min GPA to apply is 3.0, but they wont consider you at all if you dont have a 3.2 and above. The figure its easier to weeed people out. So send in those transcripts becuase one grade can make a difference.
Once you get higher than a 3.2 then only will they look at your application.

same boat. no interview. no lack letter. just an email that my application was complete. submitted on the last day though.

To the question above,

I was in the same boat in November. Did you send in your transcripts?

email [email protected] and ask if they have received all your required materials. They usually are quick to respond. Also, tell them that you did receive the acknowledgment form but are never received a report of the courses that you are lacking and the grades the school has on file.

I also contacted mr. Granderson - you can find the number on their website. Its better to be safe than sorry...

hi everyone 🙂

i submitted my supplemental in late september and had not received a lack letter by the time the november deadline approached. i emailed the admissions office and they were very quick to respond -- i received a letter and lack letter attachment the following day. it was mentioned in the letter that not everyone receives a lack letter.

nonetheless, always best to make sure. i would email pharmadm like RxFanatic said.

I need to book a hotel for the interview on the 24th! Any suggestions for which hotel I should stay at?

Really?! Wow, they should just raise the minimum to 3.2 then if they're not even going to consider people between 3.0 and 3.2.

That's why I had just requested my transcripts sent to the school immediately, because with my grades in the fall, I think my GPA had boosted a bit (at least passed that cutoff). So, I'm hoping that I'll be "considered" then for the next 2 interview dates.
 
Does anyone drive to the interview from Northern CA on Jan 24th? I'm from Davis and it will take 6-7 hours to get there.... I don't know if I should fly there instead..
 
I intend to go by "xe do`", an Vietnamese transportation mean.

Depends. It could be cheaper than gas and hotel depending on when you fly in/out.
 
err... I just got an email from USC for an invitation to USC Graduate Preview. it sounds like it's basically a tour of their campus and etc.

is this basically a rejection? =(

No, it's not. I got that email a long time ago right after I submitted Part 1 of their app.

I haven't used it before, but I've heard of their transportation system in the Little Saigon area in Westminster. Well, at least $80 is somewhat cheaper than flying.

I received another Lacking Report from Mr. Jim Granderson today with my updated grade sheet. Just thought I would let you know!

I received a confirmation email a few days after I mailed in my deposit and register form. I would call and/or email them just to make sure they received your info.
 
How many more interview dates are left? Just one?

You won't hear about Feb or March until 3-4 weeks before (maybe less since Jan/Feb dates are pretty close to each other.
 
Anybody has any idea of writing during the interview?
How long is the article and how long is for the summary?
 
Any last minute advice? I'm soooo nervous now. It's so hard to do anything in a foreign language. Keeping cross my fingers.

Do they have a campus tour?. May be s.o has talked about it but i don't remember. It looks like it may rain on Sat.

Nope, no campus tour. I was surprised and actually disappointed. I wanted a tour! Oh well. It may be trivial to some people, but that slightly gave me a bad impression. Unless that one building was all there was to it? Anyway, good luck on Saturday everyone. I'll be doing the same thing at Western while you're all at SC!
 
Just curious, did anyone have an interview scheduled the same day as Western. Do their times overlap?
 
That should be everything you need.

If you want to park in meter parking bring extra quarters and fill it up for like 4hrs(just in case). It is a lot cheaper than the parking structure.
