USC Class of 2013

Ok, this might be a dumb question but did anyone bring their luggage to the interview and was able to put it somewhere? I'm trying to only stay at my hotel for 1 night and check out the day of the interview. My friend has a hotel-like room available at his apartment complex for me to stay at, but I won't be able to get to it until after the interview, so I wouldn't have anywhere to leave my stuff. Just curious. If not, I can probably figure something out. 😛

This is not an uncommon request. Of the 5 interview sessions I've been to as a student, I know of at least twice where they've stored luggage, and that doesn't include last time when they stored FaB's

lol, ok that makes me feel better. I didn't want to seem weird by asking them to hold my luggage for me. Thanks! 😀

Oh, the agonizing wait. That is the hardest part. Good Luck!:xf:

are they still inviting people to interviewS?

Just want to double check, the school code is the same one for the undergrad campus?

omgosh! is it true that USC only considers you if you have a 3.2 GPA and higher? would that be for overall or science?

What? Where is this?

I actually met a great tech who would fit right in at our program. She mention not applying because her GPA was "too low".

If you go through the process they are not just looking for a lot of book worms (even though quite a few get accepted). There is a lot more to it. The GPA is significant but if that was the sole case I would not be here.

I have the same question!! I submitted everything back in October 13th. Last thing i had from them is an email stating that my Application Packet is Complete.
And till today, I haven't heard from them! Are they still interviewing?? I know thw last 2 interview sessions will be held on Saturdays feb 21st and Saturday march 21st!!!
Could it be possible they ignored my application? Anyone??

It is usually 2-3 weeks before the interview. Tomorrow marks the 2nd week.

Maybe they are making decisions on the Jan. 24th interview and will start again on Monday for invitations. But there are some people that have already been invited to the interview, so i really am not sure.

i read somewhere on a different thread that USC graduates usually have the highest salararies compared to other schools. Is this true?

anyone else hear for the feb. 21st interview?

do you guys know if they notify you by snail mail or email?

i know for the Dec 6th ones people had their invites through snail mail..HMMMMM

I received mine through email. I believe a few others here have too. I don't know if they're doing both or just email though.

Oh well. Now I will just have to wait for the March batch to come out. 🙁

has anyone called to see if they are done inviting ppl so we dont sit here in anticipation for nothing?

i tried, but no one picked up the phone

I called, but no one answered. Can someone else try and report back to us?

straight out of school or from all the alumni? the older the school, the higher the average salaries because the veteran pharmacists are usually DOP, on some committee, etc that have higher income.

is that why everyone wants to go to USC?

hi, I am going to attend usc pharm. starting this august, and i have some questions about financial aids. I turned in fafsa little more than a week ago, but I haven't heard anything from USC since i got accepted (well, they certainly took my $500 deposit money). I heard that I also have to turn in The USC Supplemental Financial Aid Form and the other forms(parent non-filing statement, student non-filing statement, parent infomation)
by Feb. 22th, but only the ones for the year 2008-2009 are available online. Therefore, I was wondering if there's someone who's kind enough to tell me what should I do at this point?

thanks!

i emailed the school almost two weeks ago about this and they still haven't responded. has anyone else heard from them?

if alumni is important, but I highly doubt it will make much of a difference... DOP, etc are usually those that are experienced so it won't help new grads... especially if you are going retail. It may help you get into USC's residency program. It is also said here that tuition at USC is higher, so even if you did have higher salary the difference will probably be negligible. Just as an example: If you got a 1000 dollar additional sign on bonus for being a USC grad, but had to pay 1000 dollar more tuition than did it make difference where you went?

USC is popular for a lot of reasons, but by far, I think the reason it is most popular is because it is closer to home. USC is THE pharmacy school for SoCal residents. Considering the number of students both above and south of LA who are pre-pharmacy and USC's large class size, it is no wonder that USC is the priority choice for most students. Speaking to graduates, they don't nearly have such enthusiasm. They usually make (income-wise) no more than their competing pharmacists and resent their larger debt. However, for these people, they didn't have the luxury to go ANYWHERE. Also, for most CA residents, leaving CA is not really a desired option.

The alumni association is a very popular reason. I don't think any USC member would increase a salary because of it, but in today's economy. AN edge is better than NONE, and it does exist. There's a lot of professional solidarity and pride with Trojans.

I personally do not think the concept of a time-honored curriculum or school to be a critical factor in a desire to go to a school (unless you are comparing Touro or Western with USC. However, UCSD has a relatively new curriculum and its graduates are highly desired as well.) I think what's important to consider is funding into the program. USC has a large nest egg as do the UCs compared to other schools. This gives room for opportunities, expansion, and development that some schools are just not able to do.

couldn't have said it better myself. 👍

Wrong. They always brag how they went to USC and it's a prestige school and all.

I don't know about Trojans...umm, such a...anyway.:meanie:

But I woudn't mind attending USC 😛

Wrong. They always brag how they went to USC and it's a prestige school and all.

I don't know who you're talking to, but I'm not making it up. I wish you wouldn't say WRONG when I hear actual testimonies. It all depends on the type of person you meet. I've seen both spectrums. If they're 100% Trojans, they love it and push that mentality on you. That simply comes with the territory if you have pride in your own school. However, I'll be honest. These people had their schooling paid for (usually by parents), so they really were able to take in the experience minus the finances. Just my observation.

On the other hand, as pharmacists, I've met a number of new USC grads and they really could care less about where they went. I do know they seem to be fully employed and if they weren't tied somehow (mostly marriages) they would rather travel elsewhere for a cheaper education. A few of my friends currently go to USC and not all of them enjoy the large fees, especially for parking.

You won't notice the Trojan-USC network thing unless you work. I've seen camaraderie based solely on this fact with management.

Listen to yourself. I said WRONG b/c you said that "Speaking to graduates, they don't nearly have such enthusiasm". I've seen both spectrums also and frankly the majority of them brag about the school, USC they went to. 😛

Oh yeah, now that you mention it. They have great network and they always talk about how great their school and often look down on others esp. those who had to attend pharmacy school out of state (CA).
I don't know about you but I've been working in the pharmacy in OC for over 7 yrs. I've seen enough of those USC graduates, not to say that there aren't humble ones:meanie:

it has been 3 weeks since the Jan 24 interview...still haven't heard anything from them yet~~! ahh, it is killing me !!!

I think they said it will most likely take up to 4 weeks before they make the admission decisions. The wait has been killing me to, but part of me doesn't want to know....................

Accepted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😍 GO Trojans!!!! Just got the email today stating I was accepted I still can't believe it. :soexcited::soexcited::soexcited:

ZOMG!! they send out emails already???

do they only send out emails to those who got accepted? and regular mail if you are waitlisted?

What time did you receive this email? For the Nov. 15th batch, they got it through snail mail. That is rather odd this time around.

I got the email at 12:08 pm today saying I was accepted and the letter through the snail mail was coming. Good luck to everyone else still waiting :luck:

For those of you accepted by email...what time did you guys get the email?

Omg, they already sent email for accepted people. I haven't received it. Losing hope now
