On the waitlist front, after calling admissions my impression was that we won't be considered again until much later in the spring, after all the interviews are complete. It was pretty hard to get any concrete information out of them though, any other waitlisters have any thoughts? Also, do you guys think that the waitlist letters are all the same, or could there be hints in there as to how competitive of a candidate you are?

Just from reading posts from previous years it looks to me like once all of the interviews finish in March and they make the decisions on those they then go back and review the waitlisted applicants. Students from previous years received a waitlist rank around the end of April. Also it looks like ~30 people on average came off a ~ 100 person waitlist.

disclaimer: considering the fact that this is a different year, i have no idea how accurate this info actually is.

Does anyone know where/when we should apply for financial aid for Keck?? I've been working on applications for two other schools, so I thought I should look into that.

yeah i was wondering about this too. i filled out a fafsa but i dont know what else we need to do...

i actually called them a couple weeks ago. They said they are getting the financial aid packages together to send out soon. Not really sure what's gonna be in them. How do the other schools work?

I received e-mails with forms to fill out from Nevada and Utah. Emory sends their stuff with their acceptance package. So I guess we should just wait for USC?

does anyone know how USC is doing on interview invites? ive been complete since august with no word whatsoever 🙁

Indeed... I've been complete since September with no word as well. I called them back in December and they basically just told me to wait and gave me no estimation as to how long a review might take. I do not know how many invites they have left to give out.

Me too silverlining and Go Lakers!!! I've had interviews at schools that are usually harder to get into than USC, which is weird... but USC is one of my top choices! Good luck to you the two of you, I'm thinking we still have hope. : /

Someone mentioned earlier that USC's class size is going up to 180. Is that confirmed? Also, does anyone know why they're supposedly only giving out 500 interviews this year while last year it was just over 700? I guess I'm just hoping my chances are better than I originally thought 🙂

at this point i dont think i have a chance anymore, been complete there for months and months. why dont they just reject ppl and move on

Did anyone else interview in January? I'm now patiently waiting for my fate to be decided. It's been nearly 4 weeks- they told us it would take 6-8. Did anyone get a decision letter quicker than they said?

I LOVED USC!!! I will definitely matriculate if I am given the chance...but I'm afraid to jinx myself by loving it too much...

i can't wait to hear back from usc also. i interviewed in mid-january, and i havn't heard anything (but i also live on the other side of the country and i heard the mail from usc is especially slow for whatever reason)

When were you there? I was there on the 18th. I live in the middle of the country, so maybe I'll hear a week before you (and a week after those in CA). Their mail seems to be really strange, as far as I can tell from reading this thread. GOOD LUCK!!!

well looks like we've met before. i was there the same day as you. keep me posted if you hear of anything, and best of luck to you too!

Hi! I interviewed on January 16th. I loved it there as well. If there are any other Jan 16th interviewees out there, WASSSSUUPPPPPP?!?!??! You all were perhaps the coolest, most fun interviewees I've met in a long time. Good luck to all the January interviewees and maybe we'll see eachother this coming fall.

<3 Zendoc 😍😍😍😍

This is torturing!

I went to USC for undergrad. And I work full-time on the Health Science campus, passing by the Admission building everyday. Yet, I haven't even heard from them for an interview invite!

Show me some Trojan love!!

So I called the admissions office today and found out that their re-visit weekend is the last weekend of April... anyone planning on going?? Also, they said to call the financial aid office about forms to fill out.... Just FYI for everyone!

I will be there 👍1

Personally, I am on the waitlist but got an email from USC after I filled out my FAFSA and they had me go to the FinAid website to fill out more forms. Just a heads up.

Also - They finish interviewing at the end of March...So they might still be giving out interviews? Probably not for much longer though.

I talked to Jason in the fin. aid. office, and he said that you need to fill out:

1. FAFSA
2. Graduate Supplemental Form for Financial Aid
and... if you're under 30 and are applying for USC need based aid
3. Parent Asset Information form

All of these forms are on their financial aid website (you can get there from Keck Web)

I TOTALLY want to go to USC... but I have to wait and see if my fiance gets into an English Ph.D. grad program in LA 🙁 booooo haha

Thanks LV! Great information. I've been waiting on their financial aid / scholarship packet for a while, but I think they may be a bit behind in putting it together. I'm assuming no one else has gotten it either right?

I haven't received anything either. Admissions said that it usually takes them a while to send it out.

I just got an interview invite!!!!! Yahoooooooooo can any one tell the best way to get from the airport and where to stay? how are the interviews and what are my odds? :hardy::luck::luck:

Congrats on the interview invite. I work on USC's Health Science Campus so I'll give my 2 cents.

I would say the cheapest way to get from LAX to USC is by taking the FlyAway bus to Union Station. http://www.lawa.org/FlyAway/

Then, take the free USC shuttle to Health Science Campus. Same for the return trip. http://transportation.usc.edu/transit/routes.aspx

Another option is to take a taxi. This might get a little expensive, but is a lot easier, I think.

As to where to stay, I don't really have a good recommendation because the area immediate to the campus is not the best place to be. Maybe other people have some other ideas?

One possibility I can think of now is the east Hollywood area. I know there's a Travel Lounge near Sunset and Vermont Ave. That's a convenient location because the Subway Red line entrance is right at the corner that takes you to Union Station.

I'm trying to think of a way that's the least stressful for the day but traffic in LA is just always nuts.

Hope it helps a bit, good luck~

Congrats!!! Do the invites come by email or snail mail?

e-mail.... how much would it cost to take a taxi? I am so excited!!!!! I could hardly sleep....😀😀

Renting a car through hotwire or even through the company would be cheaper than a taxi. Just make sure to print out good maps and directions since LA is very big.

Yeah, personally I would rent a car if you are up to driving in LA on your interview day. Having some sort of GPS system would be a big plus though.

About taxi, I haven't used it myself, but here's a general idea.

This taxi in LA is really good: 323-653-5050. I used them while I was in LA. Is going to be about $40 from the airport to the med school campus... a lot, I know, but if you can afford the fare, its better than wasting 2+ hrs using the shuttles...

You'd need to take a taxi to your hotel, to campus, and back to the airport, which would cost more than 40. Rent a car, and you if you get into LAX early, you can go strait to USC without staying in a hotel, saving even more.

If you are like me and dont know your way around LA and/or dont want to bother with navagating the traffic, use a taxi. If you stay with a student host, they will take you to/from the campus for free. PM me if you want the list of student hosts.

you guys are awesome thank you. I couldn't get an interview until April I will call Tues and see if something opens up sooner. How many are at the interviews? I don't want to stay with a host. I am from oos and I will be arriving late and don't want to be a bother. USC gave a list of hotels does anyone know which one is best? If it is only 40 I will prob take a Taxi. I just spent more on my last interview at WF it was 45 each way. It is just money and I have better things to worry about. I could always stay with family but they live in the valley. That is too far away. I need to fly in and out I have to finish my masters. again thank you all😀

I always try to save money whenever I can. Plus staying with a host is worth it. I got in late too, but it worked out because my host was at the library late anyway. I just took the taxi to the campus and got a ride back to his place.

i saw someone in another thread who interviewed early january just received their acceptance letter in the mail.... hopefully some of us mid-january interviewees will be hearing something soon!!!

Actually, yeah, I contacted Keck last week because my fiance has a job interview in Los Angeles and he needs to know when he could accept an offer. Keck said my decision letter was going out in the mail on Thursday. I wasn't sure if this was a special arrangement they made for me because I needed to know, but then I saw that other guy recently got his letter and now I'm assuming they sent out a batch on Thursday!! It must have just been a happy coincidence that I contacted them the day before they were planning to send out my letter! I CANT WAIT TO SEE WHAT IT SAYS!!!! But I'm not planning on it getting here until the end of the week...mail from LA to Northern Michigan is probably going to take a while.

Good luck everyone! I'll post when I find out!

i just got an invite too via email (2/15), so it looks like there's still hope! the earliest i could schedule was april though, and there weren't many interview slots left. good luck!:luck:

Is anyone else having trouble creating a new account in the my financial aid page?
