it said in the email that i got it because i expressed interest in financial aid. i dont know when exactly i expressed this interest (maybe on that form we had to fill out on interview day) but apparently i did.

I talked to Jason in the fin. aid. office, and he said that you need to fill out:

1. FAFSA
2. Graduate Supplemental Form for Financial Aid
and... if you're under 30 and are applying for USC need based aid
3. Parent Asset Information form

Anyone knows where to get those forms for 2008-2009. I only see the 2007 ones.

do you guys know if anyone lives in los feliz or downtown los angeles? is it possible to commute (reasonably) from these areas? im not really feeling the area around USC or Pasadena.

I stayed with someone in Los Feliz and it was def a reasonable commute. Los Feliz is sooooooooo awesome. I love that area. However, make sure you look into the parking situation and prices for getting a spot in the Biggy lot because I heard it can be expensive and nearly impossible to get a spot and you will need somewhere to park.

Peace out!

I just filled out the 2007 forms, and changed the date by hand 🙂

lvbbbabe, i called and they said they want 2008, so if you haven't turn them in yet, i guess you could redo them. go to go usc.edu then financial aid on the bottom of the page next to the quicklinks. then go to forms.

Got a small envelope today...and it was an acceptance. Just thought I'd update the timeline. I interviewed in the middle of January, so I guess the 4 to 6 weeks was a pretty accurate estimate.

quick question for all the folks who are filling or have filled out their financial aid stuff: i got an email this morning from their financial aid office asking me to send proof of citizenship before they can process my financial aid packet and it also contains a USC-ID. i interviewed in mid-January so I am expecting a decision any day (i live on the other side of the country so it may take a while...) but i was wondering if this could be taken as good news? wishful thinking but i'm hoping they don't process financial aid for waitlisted candidates...

Congrats! I'm glad to hear they were fairly quick. I interviewed about 3 weeks ago and they told us 6-8 weeks, but I'm hoping it'll be faster than they thought!

ACD- Where do you live?

milkylite- It sure sounds like a good sign to me! I'm no expert, but I'm wishful thinking for you too because I know you were there with me!!

They said they were going to send out my letter last Thursday. It probably didn't even leave USC until Tuesday due to their slow mailing system on campus combined with President's Day. So, milkylite, I think you and I should be hearing today or tomorrow if ACD got his/hers yesterday!!! I'm in a rural place, so mail takes a little longer to reach me. But I'm really hoping for an acceptance as well. The email she the admissions office sent me says "I can't officially tell you over email or over the phone what [the letter] says.... I wish I could!" I've been killing myself trying to figure out what that means!!! I just can't wait to get the letter and KNOW.

I am happier right now than I have been in SUCH a long time. This whole process was worth it. I got into my absolute favorite school and my fiance and I cannot WAIT to move to LA!!!!

Major CONGRATS! I had my fingers crossed for you. Great job and maybe I'll see you around. 👍

I just got an email for an interview in April today? Does anyone get accepted from late interviews.

Congrats. When were you complete?

I think i was complete in late Aug. I know it was a LONG time ago. I really hope I get accepted! I love USC!

Personally, I am on the waitlist but got an email from USC after I filled out my FAFSA and they had me go to the FinAid website to fill out more forms. Just a heads up.

Also - They finish interviewing at the end of March...So they might still be giving out interviews? Probably not for much longer though.

Hey, do you think they automatically send that e-mail to everyone waitlisted who put them down on FAFSA or only to people they are considering? i have this hope that it means something more 😛, but then again i may just be setting myself up  Thanks!

the last day they interview is April 22th. so they are still interviewing

same situation for me... have you filled out your fafsa and are worrying? the fin aid office is totally different than the admissions, so don't stress.

Thanks LV! Great information. I've been waiting on their financial aid / scholarship packet for a while, but I think they may be a bit behind in putting it together. I'm assuming no one else has gotten it either right?

Hey, I don't know if anyone got back to you on this, but here's what I know: I got a call from the admin committee about a scholarship, but they mentioned that someone on the staff got in a car accident so things are pretty backed up in the financial aid department.

In other news, who else is planning on matriculating to USC? I'm so stoked to be a med student soon! (And yes, I fully expect to eat these words in a few months) 😉

Hey Flaahless,
Congrats on the scholarship! I got one too, and I was wondering if you know what it was for?? I hadn't filled out any financial aid info or anything yet...and I don't remember if USC had a disadvantaged applicant section. Dr. Quinn said there would be a letter following her phone call, but it hasn't arrived yet (I'm assuming because of the woman who got in an accident). Anyways, just wondering if you knew. Yay USC 2012.
P.S. Tried to send this as a private message, but your inbox or whatever is full. Just FYI

Has anyone received a financial aide packet yet from Keck?

bump that question. besides the full rides, has anyone gotten a fin. aid package?

ok, the financial aid email you get for putting down USC on FAFSA is giving me false hope. It's been 7 weeks post IV for me so I'm still waiting for my decision letter to come in the mail :'(

Well, I finally got my post-secondary (i.e., no interview) rejection from USC. I appreciate that they email you to let you know a final decision has been made and that you should go to your status page to see it. So, for those of you anticipating the rejection, no need to randomly check your status page - they email you when it changes. The rejection letter is posted online via a link on the status page. Good luck guys.

Bleh. So did I, and so did some people on the California Schools thread. Hope you two end up somewhere that you'll be happy. :luck:

bah....waitlisted yesterday. This is soooooo aggravating... Any one know about how many people come off the waitlist from past years?

Howdy,

its my first time posting here. I was accepted to Keck a few weeks ago (interviewed early Jan), and have also been anxious to see what my financial aid award will be. I contacted the financial aid office earlier this week and was told awards would not be released until, "most likely mid-April at the soonest."

Also, fyi, the second look day will be April 25th.

hey thanks for info. Do you know if you have to sign up for the second look day? I will be there. Anyone else going for sure?

i think someone said around 30 people out of 100 waitlisted, could be different this year tho. Still a good chance, good luck!

For those who have been waitlisted, do you have to respond to the waitlist letter to accept your spot on the waitlist or are you put on the waitlist automatically? I asked because I spoke to someone at Keck a few days ago and I was told that my letter was just sent and "to get back to them as quickly as possible"

Also, for those recently waitlisted, when was your letter dated?

I was told they are still finalizing the schedule for second look day, and that we can expect an info packet late this month or early April.

I would like to go, but I don't think I can justify the costs to make another trip to LA from the east coast (Keck will not cover travel expenses or hotel rooms). Plus I'm almost certain I'll be going there next year, so it makes more sense to start saving for that monster tuition...

You can crash at my crib. It's not a 4 star hotel. But we do have a PS3, Wii and Xbox 360, and most importantly, guitar hero!!! 👍

I'm going for sure. I already have that day blocked off in my calendar. 👍

Oh yeah! Gotta love the Guitar Hero. I swear I'm gonna get carpal tunnel from that game

Haha, thanks man. Doubtful that I'll make it out for second look, but if I do I'll see about taking you up on that offer.

btw, anyone else here a Bruin and having trouble reconciling the fact that they'll be SC students next year? Don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled to be going to Keck, but the thought of being a Trojan makes me a recoil a bit. Thankfully I've already made plans with some buddies to buy UCLA season tickets at the Rose Bowl so I don't lose sight of where my true loyalty lay 🙂

ACCEPTED!!!!!!!!! Finally, I can get in on these talks about second look day (although I doubt I'll be able to make the trip from the east coast as well)

Nice going! When was your interview?

Nice going! When was your interview?

i interviewed mid-January. i believe that hereIcome interviewed on the same day as i did and received an acceptance a few weeks ago though. so i'm not sure what sort of timeline they are following for sending decisions.

best of luck to you and everyone else still waiting to hear back!

Does anyone know if Keck waits and releases all their rejections late in the cycle? I thought that they accepted and rejected throughout the cycle. I interviewed the first week in December, and still have not heard back either way. Any suggestions?

I'm in the same boat as you. Today makes 8 weeks post interview and still no letter from Keck. I've been calling the Office of Admissions this morning but I haven't gotten through yet.

Yeah, I'm not too cool with being told to expect a decision in 4-6 weeks and then waiting 14 weeks and hearing nothing.

I just finished talking to the Office of Admissions. They told me the committee just met yesterday and not to expect a letter for at least 2-3 more weeks.

Hey wombat, that's such a frustrating spot to be in. Did you try calling to ask them what's up with your file?

Well, it's now my understanding that one of my interviewers didn't turn in their assessment until WAY after my interview. I guess I just went up for review in February. I called this morning and they said a decision letter was sent and should be makiing its way through the USC mail system. I like the school and I'm still hoping for good news, but this delay has left me discouraged.

I kinda pieced the story together after making several phone calls, so it may or may not reflect reality...

Ouch. Well hang in there, sometimes glitches like that happen. I've been patiently waiting as well, but "only" for 8 weeks; it seems like our letters may have been sent out in the same batch. Now we just have to wait for them to traverse the labyrinthine internal mail system and reach home.

All the best!
