I just read through the 6 or 7 lenders USC recommends and they all seem fairly similar, no huge differences. I was thinking about going with ELR but wanna see if anyone out there has anymore wisdom on these lenders.

Also, for our private loans, do we just have to go to one of USC's recommended private loan lender's (like SallieMae) websites and start the application there?

My fin aid awards were posted online last week, then I got my Perkins loan promissory notes in the mail this week, then a couple days later I got my Stafford Loan Request Statement. Still not sure how we initiate the private loan stuff... gonna have to call them tomorrow.

USCCU seems to have a good deal provided you make your payments on time! Cash back is great if you plan on paying off your loan ASAP, otherwise it seems ELR would be a better choice since you get a 2% rate reduction as soon as you go into repayment. Did anyone not get their financial aid award package, still waiting for mine!
USCCU
* Federal Stafford Loan - Apply Now
- Zero Origination Fees.
- 5.5% Cash Back.
- 0.5% immediate Rate Reduction.
* Federal PLUS Loan - Apply Now
- 2% back with Trojan Family Rebate.
- Up to 1.25% immediate Rate Reduction.

Here's a comparison calculator of cash back vs. low interest rate.

I hope these loans get processed in time! (I assume preferred lenders get processed faster than non-preferred lenders, can anyone shed some light on this.)

I got my fin aid packet and was filling out the Stafford Loan Request (that yellow sheet) and that's why I was wondering. Since you haven't received the packet yet, they include an instruction sheet that points you to a pdf file with a bunch of their Lender friends for Stafford and Private...
http://www.usc.edu/schools/pharmacy/pharmd/fa ... click on the link "Financing Your Pharmacy Education" under the heading "Financial Aid Programs at USC" ........... for some reason, the USCCU is not listed in this document, but I have seen it before on a list on their website for Fin Aid.

so i still haven't received my fin aid. i called the office today and they said that I should have already received my packet. alas, they were no help and told me to call back later on this week. but the thing is, even on OASIS there's no record for my fin aid. The status portion said that as of June 2nd they are still reviewing my packet. What should i do now? I'm beginning to fret!

I went with ELR for my Stafford loan.

Now I just have to pick a lender for my private loans. If I remember correctly, I think Wells Fargo's interest rate was fairly low. Who did you guys pick for private loans?
