Hi guys,
I also have received an invitation for the 24th&25th of October.I'm trying to get as much info as possible.I know the exam consists of a pt. case scenario (pt needs cl.2 ,pfms or inlay/onlays) duplicating the ttt plan on the typodont, with RPD design and wax exercise.Second day is PBL discussion-info is very vague to me.Would appreciate it if anyone could enlighten us more on the interview process
I am a fresh graduate and i have never done rpd design simulation on typhodont..Is it confirmed that they ask rpd design because the email doesnt notify much about the interview...any help will be appreciated..thanks
all of you got interview at noon or anyone got at evening ????????I got the interview invitation too....
Does anyone know which typodonts we will be given for the preparation ? (columbia/kilgore??)

I am unable to open attached two files, anybody pls tell me what is there inside, it only shows USC school of dentistry.
Don't bother about those attachments ...they are the name and logo of "Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC"...No specific information about the interview is available in the e-mail yet...
Benny,
There is a deadline on 1st of oct whether you attend BOTH 24 & 25 oct for interview and there is no make up for these dates, and attending both days are mandatory for all of us , the first day is for practical exam and second day is interview based on PBL.
you can send the email ( to what they sent us in the email invitation) to submit your attendance and once you've got another interview from other school you can choose from , until you send the interview fees to usc which is usually non-refundable.
But from I heard the schools arrange the interviews date that its not going to be in a same day !
hope this helps.
Thank you Dr San
I have one query pls, if all of us have interview on 24 and 25 oct coz they say that we need to reserve seat till 1st october, wat does it mean, is it like we need to email Ms. Lauren if we will attend this or not? OR to tell them suitable date?
Did anyone receive the details regarding the exam fee and instruments ? Will that be e-mailed to us like the invitation? I was just wondering why haven't they asked for the tech exam fee yet?
hi trintrin, you mentioned that last year they gave a patient scenario that required 7/8 crown, rpd and wax paatern. can you please explain it a bit did they have to do 7/8 crowns on typodont or what and what is the wax paatern about, i mean what is required on that part. how about rpd, what kind of designs are mostly asked at usc. please answer it. thanks.
Hi all..this is my first time for an interview in any dental school for the 24 and 25th october at usc. I dont knwo much about the instruments to bring lik wat kinda typhodont and burs. If someone can share proper info about the instruments and the kind of tooth prepn which could be expected of us ,it would be a great help and I could start preparing accordingly.. One more thing if anyone knows practical training on east coast prefrably NY.Thankyou
Benny- day of bench exam you can wear whatever you want. I would suggest dressing in layers so that if you are hot/cold you can take the layers off/on accordingly.
Alident- they will NOT tell you to do a 7/8 crown. they will give you a case scenario and ask you to use your best judgement. For wax pattern they give you a block of wax and dimentions for a tooth (last time it was #8) and ask you to carve it out of the wax block. for RPD Design they want you to take a red/blue pencil and make a design on PAPER (Not not not A MODEL). kind of like a design you would give to your lab technician if you made an rpd for a patient. last time it was Class II modification I i believe .
as for cavity prep, again, they give you a scenario so you ahve to use your best judgement!
heres a hint- like trintrin said....DONT BOTHER buying ALL the instruments they ahve listed, it will cost you literally $3000 ....just use what you have and take your OWN TYPODONT and instruments. USC will NOT give you anything.
Hope all this helps!
i heard that duggans is not only expensive but actually they do not allow one to practice in the class time. if you want to practice that will be additional class with additional money to pay.
