Those of you who already had interview at USC, can you explain what kind of case assignments they give and and is there any one-on-one interview?
 
TTT, this would be really helpfull, i am also going to the USC interview soon and this information would really help me out, Thanks for any feedback. I gave them a call they said that there will be group interview where they will give us a Problem base learning case---> no one on one interview i think i would rather have a one on one interview, it would be kindda scary with all those people looking at me and at the same time 🙁

I interviewed on Jan 16 at USC. Don't worry too much about it. It's not stressful at all. The admission staff tried to make everyone feel comfortable and stress free. It will be a whole day event tho. In the morning they introduced how PBL program came about. we also observed a PBL case study in session. After lunch we started the mock PBL case study. They split us into 2 groups. we sat in a room with 3 admission staffs and they walked us thru a PBL case study. The topic is non dental related. Just have fun with your group. My advice is to speak up and volunteer to read or put stuff on the board. Be confident but not overpowering. Just be yourself and you'll have fun. Trust me it's absolutely stress free. everyone there loved it!

I was there on the 16th, too. I totally agree-- very stree free and quite fun. Just be yourself and enjoy the process.

I was really impressed by the school. I think it is really important to assess whether or not the PBL program is something you can see yourself doing. I personally think it is the ideal program for myself.

I agree with the last two posters. The interview day is not too stressful. I would recommend that you volunteer to read or be the scribe. Other than that, just be yourself and have fun with it.

Overall, its a well organized interview. You will learn a bunch about PBL and get a mini test drive.

I interviewed Jan 16 wtih USC. Anyone know how soon after the interview we'll know the result?

The next round of acceptances should go out late Jan / early Feb.
 
Anyone received acceptances from USC from their second round yet? I heard something about end of jan or beginning of feb that letters would start going out, but I haven't heard from them. Didn't know if anyone else has? Please advise.
 
i interviewed there on Jan 30th and they said the next round of acceptances will be sent out in mid Feb.
 
This coming week is what I was told when I called a few days ago.

I talked to Eva and she said that they are gettin ready to do the acceptance this week. If we are not accepted this round, the next time they'll send out acceptances probably won't be until mid-March at the earliest.

Good news to those you are waiting to hear from USC. Eva said that the class is not nearly full and that they are mailing out a bunch of interview invites this upcoming week. Phew
 
Here is what Eva emailed me this morning (update on USC):

"We just accepted a round of students last week so the next round of acceptances most likely won't go out until sometime in early to mid-March. At this point we'll probably be trying to accept every 2-4 weeks. And we're not yet full"

Just in case anyone was wondering.

BTW, I always try to make a point of going out with my interview mates after the interview to get to know them and to get a feel for the city. I hope you'll be interested. Maybe we'll be classmates.
 
I doubt you'll be classmates considering ec has "UCLA School of Dentistry Class of 2008" in his signature. 🙂

BTW ec, why are you going to SC again?
 
^^^ Yeah I know, but if he feels that he should even interview there, there is a (very) small chance that we could be classmates.

You weren't asking me why I'm going to SC - right?

I guess this means ecdoesit is an out of state applicant to UCLA. People were telling me that it is next to impossible to get accepted at a UC school from out of state. Is that as true as everyone says or are there a few spots available. I got the impression that maybe 2-3 people could enroll at a UC school from out of state.

Okay, wait a minute ecdoesit says he's from Cali so I guess I rambled on about something that doesn't really make any sense, and that your question was really directed at me.


Well, I think you may have me confused with another poster since this will be my first trip to SC in years. I'm really looking forward to it!

Yes, I am from San Diego, CA. Yes, I have UCLA on my signature. Plus, I just got the UCSF call yesterday. So, why on earth would I go to USC interview, if you may ask? Cos I want to judge PBL first-handed. I am kinda sick of people "condemning" this new approach. I want to get a feel before I make my opinion. Besides, I paid them everything. They better give me a good presentation. Seriously, I have not visited the dental sch at USC. And a chance to take a mini vacation. Not bad at all.

I just got an interview invite via email...this is the first time ive been able to sit still im so excited!!!!! It's my #1 choice. Luckily a spot opened up for this monday so I will see you guys there too.:clap: :clap:
 
next monday is my special day, so that's why i dont want to do anything.... especially interview!

I just called to schedule my appointment on March 26. (March 19 and 26 are the only 2 sessions left and the waiting list for other dates are too long).

Well, hopefully my interview will go well, so ill be at USC!!!. Ill be losing my deposit to tufts but its way worth it. Good luck to you too on friday.

I interviewed Jan 16th and heard back Feb 11. Don't worry if don't hear from them soon because the next time they are sending out more acceptance letters is around mid-march, april. I'm not sure if they are done with the feb acceptance yet....you can email eva to find out.

I do not hear from USC since last Dec. There are many people
talking about immunization requirement. Don't know if we will receive one recently or they won't send us until May/June?

No, students buy their own laptops at USC. Also no Vitalbook.

Eva's last update to me (back in Feb) was to expect another round of acceptances in March, has anyone been in contact lately and heard how its going?
 
I interviewed 2/13 and received an acceptance on 3/3. You should prolly hear from them real soon. If you interviewed, you're almost guaranteed a spot on the waitlist. I'm sure there's plenty of room for you to be a Trojan. Good luck to you.

i was there too
and i havent heard anything except the post-interview package.
 
I was there too with ecdoesit and I haven't received anything except the post interview packet either. What I heard was that the commitee is meeting some time this week for a round of acceptances to come in mid-March.
 
I think its pretty clear that acceptances will be going out next week or so..but if it helps..I interviewed 2/23 and havent heard yet either. Good luck to all
