Their cardiology fellowship has lost its accreditation: Full story here

You can read the deposition against him: Here

As far as EM / other residencies are concerned, there is a line in the article that may be putting other residencies on probation?

The ACGME also took the rare step of imposing immediate probation on the fellowship's sponsoring institution, USC and County-USC Medical Center, concluding it “failed to demonstrate substantial compliance” with unspecified requirements.

Is there anyone from USC that can comment on the status of other programs?

There are no other programs on probation at this time and there is no reason to suspect any more will be put on probation. This will, for a fact, not affect the EM program. The ACGME is requesting certain improvements from the institution of USC as a whole with regard to resident wellness etc. This has already been a main focus of the EM program leadership for the last few years.

I'm an APD at USC, and everything bucks900 said is true. This was a decision made by the ACGME to hold the whole hospital accountable for the actions of the cardiology division. This decision, however, doesn't affect the specific accreditation status of any of the other programs at LAC+USC (including Emergency Medicine). It is business as usual for the EM program and we will continue, as we have in the past, to make sure that these kinds of things don't happen in our own department.
