Does anyone know of a decent hotel within a reasonable distance to USC?

I hope someone could answer and help you. GL

Your answer is very helpful...what if that person is not from this state and has no friends at ucla? Not everyone goes to ucla...

saying that I hope someone could answer and help you is equally as helpful.

it was a joke. ucla and usc have a pretty big rivalry. you'll be aware of this if you end up matriculating to usc.

Hmm so it was a joke...I got nothing nice to say so I'm going to shut up.

for those of us on AC, let's keep each other updated.

Has anyone received an updated evaluation letter yet?

I emailed usc, and they told me they were going to send one shortly.

What's an updated evaluation letter?

Does anybody know when the next interview invites will go out (approx)?

They said 2-3 weeks before the interview day. Has anyone received the evaluation email yet?

What is the evaluation? Is the the pre-reqs or something?

Any from the first interview date drove from the OC area? I was wondering how bad the traffic was.

My friend had an 8am interview and she is from the OC. Traffic wasn't bad for her in the morning. But make sure you show up at least 1 hour prior to your interview - better to be safe than sorry. I think this week traffic will be heavy because it's almost New Year/Tet so more people will be out on the streets. Remember to come early and bring your ID card for verification. Good luck James

Thanks! I was planning to leave 2 hours early. Did they have snacks during your interview? I get pretty hungry waiting LOL.

I don't remember getting any snacks. If you're there early, you get to mingle with fellow applicants or current first year students. After that, the director of admissions would give a little introduction about USC. Right after that, you will be taken to your interview, lasting about 15 - 20 minutes. Then you're lead to a room to write your essay. The process is really fast...I don't see it lasting over 2 hours.

I'll be coming from the OC area (Santa Ana). The interview starts at 9:30AM, and I plan to leave my house at 7:30AM. I drive from Santa Ana to the USC Health Sciences Campus area frequently on weekend nights, and sometimes when there is no traffic I can get there within 35 minutes. It sometimes takes 1 hour if there is traffic. But the interview is in the morning, so I don't there there should be much, if any, traffic.

No snacks so make sure you eat breakfast and wear a suit so you're not shivering like crazy in the cold. Feel free to PM me if you have anymore questions :D

Hey!! Does USC send out both interview invite and denial at the same time for each interview cycle? Or they send out denial altogether in the end?

That's true. What I meant was not to show up in a dressed shirt without a blazer.

lol! i showed up in a white dress-shirt without a suit :p i felt uneasy at first seeing that all the guys wore black suits. i became less conscious about it though as time went by, and completely forgot about it during my interview. that was my first interview so i wasn't aware how "tryhard" people typically are. i don't regret my choice though -- i felt like i was being myself.

in any future interview though, i'll be sure to wear a suit ;]

Hi everyone,

When I first submitted my primary and supplementary app to USC my GPA calculations were really messed up from Pharmcas. At that point, I did not qualify for the program because my GPA calculations were so off.

They have since been fixed, but I know USC received my app way before they finally fixed everything.

My question is if they will re-review my application or if that really messed me up for this application cycle?

Any insight would be great, thank you!

I think they will look at your file again since you have committed some errors. To make sure, you should call their admission office and let them know so that they can review your file again (and to get your name out there) :)

Hello! Do you really think I should call them? I know some schools are so iffy about you contacting them about your status because they're swamped during the application cycle. I have thought about it, but have been scared to!

Thanks again for your response :)

You should call them, i've called them several times during the cycle, and they've been pretty polite every time.

Definitely call the them but choose your words carefully. Your future might depend on what you say to them...no pressure :D

I'm pretty excited (first pharm school interview). Is it a closed or open-file interview?

It was an open one , they had everything in front of them ,they were just verifying them....

thats interesting because i couldn't tell if mine was open or not. but whatevs

My interviewers had my resume and those 3 short essays in front of them so it was an opened interview. Review all of your materials and what you've put in your resume and essays, and you should be fine :).

I guess it can be either. I'll definitely look over my application just in case. Thanks for the replies!

For those who have interviewed, how long was the whole interview process? Thanks

The whole interview process went like this. First, they took 10-15mins us a pep talk to calm our nerves down. Second, they called us one-by-one to be escorted to our designated room with our interviewers. Third, the interview varied from 20-35mins (I finished mine around 20-25mins so don't feel bad that you are the only person back in the lecture hall :D), and they take you back to the lecture hall to wait for everyone to come back. Fourth, 50mins were given for us to write our essays. Finally, you go home :D!! That was the only exciting part of the interview :D.

who was your interviewer? a faculty member?

Just got home from the 930AM interview. Man that essay was killer. :(

Good luck to everyone! :luck:

longest drive home ever... -_-"

the interview itself went pretty well.. however, the essay...

now all we can do is wait..

Totally agree on the essay. It was so hard!!!! But coming out of it, I overheard someone talking to someone else, saying they really enjoyed the essay and loved it. :( Oh well.

Keep your fingers crossed and move on to your next interview. You have quite a nice line-up for upcoming interviews so best of luck to you lili. Is USC your top pick?

How was the interview guys?

The interview went by fast huh? What was your essay topic?

Yeah the interview was quick. Previous questions on SDN really helped me.

The essay was to argue whether we believe memory-dampening drugs should be used on patients

Hmm that prompt is not so bad. It's much better than mine. How did you think you did on the essay? :D
