Now that I've heard back from all my schools, I have to make a tough decision, and I'd like to hear any opinions on the matter before I do so.

I've narrowed it down to USC, NU, and UCI, altho I'm "on hold" at UCI. I'm debating whether to pursue the UCI on hold status or just forget about the school and go to either USC or NU (I'm a CA resident). Here are the pluses and minuses I see for each.

USC
(Positives)
-Close to home
-Curriculum
-LA County
(Negatives)
-I'd have to live at home since it's 10 min. away (could be seen as a positive)
-Expensive

Northwestern
(Positives)
-Curriculum
-National rep
-Location (altho not as much as USC and UCI)
(Negatives)
-Expensive
-Cold as $%*@#

UCI
(Positives)
-Cheap
-Close to home
(Negatives)
-Hospital affiliate is off campus (is this a negative?)

I liked all three of these schools when I interviewed, and felt that I could fit in well at any of them. Also, I'm very interested in GS or ortho if that makes any difference. Matching in CA would be nice, but it's not a big priority. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

sounds like Irvine would be your best choice. nice cali weather, cheap, close to home but not too close, good rep for the price.

i think UCI is the best choice out of the 3 with cost:reputation in mind.

Northwestern is in a very nice part of Chicago from I've been told. Plus Northwestern has more research opportunities and a better national rep than the other two schools. I'd look at the curriculums, cost (looks like USC and Northwestern are going to cost a ton), and importance of being close to home. If I were fortunate enough to make that decision I would choose Northwestern.

i think it would help you to put up a poll.

I'd say San Diego. Irvine is the lowest-ranked by USNews, but at least I hear good things about the school!
