Hey guys, I'm filling out my essay that AMCAS wants, and the prompt is "Use the space provided to explain why you want to go to medical school". Is this really asking "tell us why you want to be a doctor" or are they actually asking why I want to go to school that just happens to be medical related?

Honestly it seems as if you're thinking too much into the questions being asked. Just relax and take a deep breath and read the question again. Good luck this cycle

Yes, the format of the question may seem a bit too blunt for all the work you have been putting forth the past 3-4 years, but it all comes down to a simple "so why do you want to pursue medicine". The trick here is that an answer of "I want to help others" will simply do nothing but raise your chances of not getting in. They want proof that you can stand out above the rest, how you can show who you are, and how you fit into the clinician practice. It's you selling yourself so make it genuine and honest. Good luck!
