This may be a silly question in a wrong forum but I didn't find a better place...
I have a heavy flow and I want to start using tampons. I have tried it many times before and read instructions, but I've never succeeded in inserting one. I've been trying different tampons, including the smallest ones I could find that come with an applicator, using a mirror to see where I'm inserting it, etc. I think the opening in my hymen is too small for a tampon and it hurts when I try to insert them. I was thinking whether I should ignore the pain and push harder breaking the hymen or is it possible to injure something down there? I have studied anatomy so I know in which direction it should go but whenever I really do it I get discouraged fast because of the pain and it doesn't seem to find its way in. I've been thinking whether I should go to a gynecologist to make sure I'm placing it right and using the right angle or would it be silly?
I've been to a gynecologist once and she didn't say that I have a microperforate hymen (although I didn't ask either). Is a gynecologist supposed to tell you if you have a microperforate hymen or is it something so minor that they might not tell you about it?
I have a heavy flow and I'm tired of worrying about possible leaking. I've gotten the impression that using a tampon and a pad at once should be the best solution. I know about cups but those are only for non-virgins, aren't they? What should I do?
