Hello,

As a Meds school freshman living in Europe (Greece, Meds School of Athens, year 1) I'd like to ask the community about the average USMLE step 1 score required to study Endocrinology at a respectable University abroad (starting from the top, say, Harvard, John Hopkins ... rest Ivy League institutions). I'm planning to start preparing to take the test on year 2, and, in case it helps, I'm interested in research epidemiology of endocrine diseases.

Thanks.

To do endocrinology, you must first complete an internal medicine residency, followed by an endocrinology fellowship. There is no real minimum USMLE score- IM programs vary widely in competitiveness. You should shoot for a 230+ and try to match to the strongest IM program you can, but even community IM programs will not preclude you from endocrinology, as it is not a very competitive specialty to get into.
