Does anybody know how to prepare for USMLE Step 1:
1. Recommendations for any prep courses?
2. What books to buy?
3. How high should I aim to get into a competitive residency prog later?
4. How soon should I start studying?

Thanks.

1.Get Kaplan q-bank for sure.
2.buy first aid for step 1 for sure and read it twice!
3.competitive is relative, however if you hit 240's you should be good for nearly any specialty. Personally i think 230's are good enough for most.
4.four to five weeks is good.
5.good luck.
