Weeeeeiiiiird. Heee. I started this thread eons ago asking about the school.... and now I can actually post about it. The mind boggles! Or maybe it's the migrane I have. Anywho.
The large percentage of married/seriously involved people is rather odd, but don't worry. Though seriously involved, lots of these people are still capable of being nice and friendly to fellow classmates. Still, it does seem weird to be asking after someone's husband/wife and child rather than their pet goldfish.... There are also plenty of single people still to do those "single people" activities with. Many of my friends here are engaged and planning to get married over the summer, and so they do end up spending a large amount of time with their significant others, and to be honest, sometimes it feels like they are consistantly putting their friends second to their significant-other commitments. There is still enough of a single-people presence in the class-- it's usually single people and the at-least-not-yet-engaged people who are the majority of those to show up for most of the class outings to bars, clubs, and the like. In that respect, there is a sense of certain degree of segregation at times... But I think people find their nitches and social circles. There are the more grown-up-type circles and the more of still-a-kid-type circles.
If youare dying to be attached and are not worried about the possible future full of socially akward situations, you can always attempt to hook up with someone in the class-- I think there are four or five intraclass couples in my class.
Worst come to worst, you can always get yourself an emergency significant other. Try mail-ordering? Or otherwise, you can just be single and enjoy it.
As for the city itself, I have unfortunate prejudice towards Houston, so I find anything better than that. I was coming from a five-year stint away from Texas (mostly on the East Coast), and though it's been a bit of a culture shock to come back, I think whatever your thing is, you'll find something to keep your interest for at least the next few years.
So there. I doubt anything I had to say makes much sense; I just wanted to post here again to make the circle complete.
