Hey everybody! I wanted to start a forum for those of you applying/applied for the summer 2016-17 class.
I'm a senior undergrad student with a focus in anthropology and public health and looking to bring my liberal arts education into a career in medicine. Interested in researching at the Cardiovascular Institute since I've been focusing on nutrition systems and how they've contributed to obesity which fuels insulin-resistance (diabetes) and eventually cardiovascular diseases (which are the #1 cause of death& most preventable in US!!).

Stats- 3.72 GPA, 70 hours of shadowing in an ED, +100 hours (to date) as a volunteer with local EMS.

Hobbies: NCAA D3 tennis player, ex-competitive swimmer, finance. (looking to learn how to ski!)

Why UVM?:My mom actually went to the college of medicine there and she's been a huge influence on me obviously. The linkage is a big incentive. Small community seems like a great environment to focus and prepare in. Also a great institution with an overall great reputation!

Hey Jared,

I'm debating between UVM's post bacc and another school currently, but leaning towards UVM. My undergrad education was pretty similar to yours- I studied medical anthropology and global health with a focus on addressing health disparities in minority populations. I'm from the West Coast but I'm going to fly out in January to visit UVM and hopefully meet with one of the program advisors.

Maybe I'll see you there next Summer!

I was accepted over break. I'm ecstatic! My mother went to UVM undergrad back in the day and is now a physician so she is really pushing me towards attending. My concerns are regarding volunteer/ research opportunities as well as the availability of MCAT prep courses. If anyone has any insight or experience with the program please let me know.

Hi guys, I was accepted for this summer just a few days ago. I'm pretty psyched, but am still trying to decide between UVM and Mills (and maybe Storrs). Wondering what, if any, other programs you all may have considered, and why you chose UVM. Also curious if any of you know how tough they are on gaining in-state tuition for UVM Medical School if you do their post-bacc as well. Cheers

So I visited UVM and met with one of the program advisors, really liked it. I'll be starting this May. Anyone else make a decision?

Think I have decided to attend as well! psyched, though a little apprehensive. Which advisor did you meet with, out of curiosity?
