I also know someone from VT who got of the waitlist. He had to wait a long time (I think he heard in June...), but it was worth the wait.

Still no news for me. I've been complete for less than a month but I keep hoping...

Someone who was complete at the end of Oct. just got an interview invite so there is hope. Unfortunately a ton of us have been complete for quite a while before that and have heard nothing.

Thank you for letting me know. That gives me hope. I sometimes fear that I applied too late to hear any good news. I guess I just need to wait my turn... Does anyone know if instate applicants are screened first?

Yes, inuranic posted that they got accepted in the "official" UVM thread today. And I just posted the US News stats for both IS and OOS there.

anyone know how to possibly find out your position on the UVM waitlist?

i just go waitlisted too... OOS...
 
They do not rank their waitlist. They broke it into thirds last year and they stopped that practice this year.

In addition, we cannot make predictions as to the movement of the waitlist or an applicant's chances of admission in a given season so please keep this in mind if you contact the admissions office."

They may rank it internally, but the message on the site makes it clear that they aren't gonna tell you squat. They did the "thirds" thing last year after March or May. Maybe they'll do it again at that point, but I thought I read somewhere that they did away with it entirely.

Yup. When I interviewed they specifically said they were doing away with the ranking this year.

My husband was also accepted today, analogously to jaychou, waitlisted on 11/19 and accepted today 11/27.

Where does UVM stand for those of you accepted (i.e. how likely do you think it is that you will end up there)? I'm feeling pretty good about it - I think that I'll be at UVM next fall unless Mayo calls.

Wow, congrats! I didn't think they'd start taking people off the waitlist for several months. Perhaps the OOS waitlist is a lot like their pre-interview pool.
 
I would love to get an interview at UVM. Unfortunately, I truly feel that my interest is highly superficial, seeing as I have never been to UVM to experience and learn about the school first hand. I think that I would be remiss to say that I know a lot about the school's positive and attractive qualities in spite of the fact that I find myself pouring over their website on a daily basis.

I was wondering if anyone who has visited the school would be able to tell me about some of the things that they loved about UVM and maybe the things that they found did not sit well with them. I would enjoy reading a broad spectrum of info on UVM from their academic and recreational facilities to their global health opportunities, curriculum, and class camaraderie.

congrats for getting in off the OOS waitlist! Did any of you write letters of interest/intent or anything after learning that you were on the waitlist?
 
I've been complete going on 9 weeks now and they just said it would hopefully not longer than 3 more weeks to review my application.

I didn't do anything whatsoever. I was getting ready to send out a letter of intent but I guess they csn read my mind. I was told by students during my interview that most OOS students who were accepted were placed on the waitlist first. Maybe that will give others hope.

I just got this today. I have been complete since late Aug.... under plim.. review ever since. is this bad? sorry if this is a repeat I looked and didn't find the answer... thank you

That is a pre-interview hold. At most schools it is not a good thing, but that is not the case at UVM. Everyone I know of who got an interview had this status first.

That's not a waitlist, it just means that you may or may not get an interview, they haven't decided on you yet. If you were on the waitlist, it would literally say "waitlist" in your message, I believe.

I just got that same message today. Anyone know how long it normally takes for them to give you an interview invite after you have received this message?
 
The text on my status page went from "UNDER PRELIMINARY REVIEW" to ... "under review"

meh. probably doesn't mean anything but I'm curious if anyone else noticed this. It just changed within the last 12 hours or so since i checked last night before i went to bed.

I believe that it means that you status will change within the next week. (to either- pool of applicants possibly interviewed or cannot review favorably)

Just to let you know...my status went from caps to lowercase. It then took them four weeks (and a couple of phone calls from me) to change my status to rejection...

I dont think its meant to be a notification that you will hear something soon. Most people noticed it changed when they were complete about 8 weeks, so its automatic based on how long you have been waiting. I just wanted to let you know my situation, as I sat on pins and needles for that week waiting to hear. Then one week turned into two, two turned to three...

Anywho, g'luck! :luck:

Mine just changed too but I have only been under review for about 5 weeks... I'm a weak applicant though.
 
i have the "pool of applicants for interview" status too, anybody with that get an interview recently?

Anyone know if UVM likes, or even accepts, pre-interview updates? I just got that applicant pool notification, and i'd like to say some stuff that i have done lately and why i am interested in their school. So, anyone know if UVM is cool with pre-interview updates?

I would say go for it. I interviewed there, and they stressed several times how they really like interested applicants (i.e., those that call/write/email). I think they would be very receptive to a pre-interview letter of interest.
