U of Wash will soon consider increasing tution for its dental students to "market rate" levels. The proposal is to ramp up to market over a 3-5 year period. The present annual tuition for residents is about $10,000, but would increase to $19,000 at the end of the ramp. Non-residents would be paying $39,000 at the end of the same period . In case you feel picked on, take comfort in the fact that the medical, law, nursing, and pharmacy students are also targeted for market rate tuition adjustments.

An update on the first report........,it now appears that the ramp up to "market rate" tuition for the medical and dental schools at UW will require legislative approval. Tuition rates for the law and pharmacy schools however, can apparently be adjusted to market levels at the discretion of the UW board of regents. Never the less, I would suspect that the legislature will eventually go along with the proposed tuition increases for the medical and dental schools.

what will the Medical tuition be if the hike is passed? Where would one find that info?

Medical is looking at $22,000 for residents and $40,000 for non-residents. It could be worse. If you are able to get a spot as a non-resident at UW, at least Washington is one of the few states in which it is easy to obtain resident status for state college tuition purposes after one year.
