Good news everyone. I just called admissions and they said they've accepted the first 6 off the Washington waitlist! 😀 That's a lot of movement in one week!
 
Thanks Woniu! GO WAITLIST GO! That is such great news, and there will only be more good news to come. I can't wait until we get all the way down to HIVDoc2b! 🙂

I'll buy you a drink if you rock it at #48! Though wouldn't the Irony be if you got in, and in 2 years somebody developed a solid vaccine against HIV. Or a real cure!

Well... you have the dubious honor of occupying the lowest number I know of. However, what I say is limited by what I know, and what I know is determined by SDN in this case...

You're only three spots behind me so here's hoping for both of us!

Congrats Woniu. Just out of curiosity (since you got Pullman), how did you rank the three WWAMI locations on your UW app?

Thanks Diagoras. I ranked Pullman as #1, Seattle #2, and Spokane #3 since I currently live in Pullman. Plus, I've heard good things about the site from past WWAMI students.

Just got my exit interview for the 15th of this month. I would greatly appreciate any information regarding Dr. Teitz, questions to ask, or the overall process if any of you went through it before.

Also, Congrats to 1-7! Maybe a miracle will happen and they will make it to the unranked list🙄.
 
1-9 Have been accepted of the WA waitlist so far (just got off of the phone with admissions). Now there is only one person between me and UW! Hopefully Monday will bring good news.

Hey ruraldr, glad you're still lurking around. We still gotta plan our ice cream get together, but I'd be okay with it being sunny and warm for that... which means maybe another couple weeks.

Yay for 1-9 getting in. Only 39 to go until I get to buy y'all Ben and Jerry's (speaking of ice cream). Sigh. I'm gonna call Monday and ask where I am on the waitlist - see if I can glean any info about how many people didn't accept spots on the WL.

Did you guys see the UWSOM vs Stanford post? I'd take UWSOM over Stanford in a the QRS complex of a heartbeat any day, but I'm tempted to counsel that person not to pick UW... it gives another of us a chance. This is why I've been silent on that thread. I can't be objective.

Big day coming up for you... congrats!

My graduation's on Sunday...yes! Hopefully that's not the only big day in my near future and also the others waiting on the alternate lists!

Random question: Ben N Jerry's vs Cold Stone. I dont know if it gets any better than birthday cake remix at cold stone, but half-baked is pretty good too. 😀

Depends how broke I am. 😀 Cold Stone is just pure awesomeness, but it's so bloody expensive. Also Cold Stone is much further from my house than the nearest B&J-carrying grocery store.

Favorite B&J flavors are Half Baked and DMB Magic Brownies.

Favorite Cold Stone concoctions... depends on the day. Often it involves brownie and hot fudge though. And I always, always make my own.

Mix (formerly MarbleTop, the original cold stone ice cream shop in Seattle) actually wins my vote. It's really hard to beat fresh peaches for greatest mix-in ever. Even if I am a raging chocoholic.

Dammit, now I want ice cream, at 6:45am.
 
What's up guys! I am actually getting ready to apply to medical schools this year. I recently finished doing my research on UWSOM and for the most part fell in love with it. However, I was wondering if indeed it is true that you guys will be in class practically all day EVERY weekeday.

Also, are you guys familiar with the proximity of workout facilities to the Health Science Campus?

I'm not an expert (given that I'm just an applicant like you are), but from talking to current students it sounds like they have at least 3 mornings a week where they are not in class (can either study or do preceptorships).

I do think the UW has more scheduled class time than many schools though (although I've heard that some choose to just study on their own).

The "IMA" the UW's gym is pretty close to the health sciences area and is nice. http://depts.washington.edu/ima/

I would guess it wouldn't be more than a 10 minute walk.

Mostly though, the post was just expressing confusion at the whole 'Stanford is way more recognized' consensus. For undergrad, sure...

Anyways, as for ice cream, Cold Stone cake batter, or cotton candy. They closed all the stores out here...here's hoping there's one in the U-district. 🙄

thanks woniu! they haven't told me where I am placed, so I am guessing that I will be in the pool for the next raffle. i have seattle as my number 1 choice. however, if i don't get placed there, we might be classmates next year!

Just heard from UW, the wait list is at least at #11 because I'm in! I'll be going to the Seattle campus.
