Hello all,

I am starting a job at the VA soon (next month) and am looking for some insight as to what the process of the physical is (ie blood work, urine drug screen, immunizations, etc)

Thank you

It's nothing major. You can go to any local VA and have it done and they can transfer the reports to your VA facility you will be employed at. They do simple blood work, blood pressure, height and weight, urinalysis for drug screening, and have you do some easy maneuverability tests (bend over touch your toes, stand on one foot, walk a short walk as they examine your gait, etc.). It's not really any different than a basic physical at your doctor's office, but it's done usually by occupational health services in a VA facility.
