-Va resident
-Graduated from UVA in 2014 with high distinction
-11 verbal, 8 PS, 11 BS
-3.6 cumulative, 3.5 science
-2.5 years research experience in a translational cancer lab, should be published once I apply in 2015
-Ran a student non-profit in college for 2 years (GlobeMed). Raised more than $10,000 for our partner NGO in a third world country under my leadership
-90 hours shadowing an orthopedic surgeon + being a bioethics intern in an HIV clinic during college
-will have 2 years of scribing experience at a trauma 1 ED once I matriculate in 2016 (hopefully)

Chances? I'm not sure if I should try and retake my mcat in December.

Wahoowa!

You are competitive for quite a few schools. If you provide a list we can give a better assessment.

Mainly interested in MD schools

VCU (Top choice)
Tufts (top choice)
UVA (top choice but super reach school)
EVMS
VIRGINIA TECH
GW
Georgetown
Howard
WVU
UNC
Wake forest
Drexel
Temple
University of Illinois
Loyola
University of Maryland
UMass
Utexas, Houston

--this list is not exhaustive or final. I appreciate any advice on where to apply with my stats as well! I feel that my 8 PS might disqualify me from some schools that would otherwise take a 30 MCAT with a 10-10-10 breakdown. Not sure if I'm flawed in my thinking.

VCU (Top choice)
Tufts (top choice)
UVA (top choice but super reach school)
EVMS
VIRGINIA TECH
GW
Georgetown
Howard (Are you sure you meet their mission?)
WVU
UNC (This is a huge reach. I probably wouldn't bother)
Wake forest
Drexel
Temple
University of Illinois (State school. Super expensive. May or may not be competitive)
Loyola
University of Maryland (Favors students from their own state)
UMass (Same as Maryland)
Utexas, Houston (90% of matriculants are Texas residents)

The 8 in PS will hurt. But it isn't impossible. I'd recommend Oakland, Western Michigan, Creighton, Vermont. I'll try to think of others.

my buddy got into VCU with a 28 this past year. His EC's were about on par with yours or worse. Less medically oriented overall.
