This is something you need to ask schools. They are all pretty strict on their immunization requirements, but I don't know their policies for people who actually have it.

Are you sure its Hep B (and not C)? Hep B tends to be an acute infection, and is only rarely a chronic process (unsure what you mean by carrier). Either way they can test your blood for the virus itself and for antibodies against the virus (which confer immunity). Check with your school and find out if proof of immunity is enough. And if you have a chronic infection, plz see a doctor and get treatment.

Either way, ask your school.

A hep B carrier is one that will carry hep b all their life (unless someone discovers a drug to successfully get rid of it). You are right though, usually hep b is an acute infection but the risk of becoming a carrier for life decreases as you age. Ex: a baby has a higher risk of becoming a carrier then lets say, an adult. In the early 80's (so our generation) they did not have a hep b vaccination for newborn babies so babies that were born to hep b infected mothers were infected and usually become chronic carriers of the disease.

oh yeah btw a large number of hep b infections originate from asia, so unknowingly infected immigrants brought it over to the US and gave it to their future children and grandchildren, etc. Whole generations of families have the chronic version of this disease, which only the newer generations are immune b/c of the vaccination right after birth
