My cat is somewhat glutinous and has a tendency to beg for his dinner for at least an hour prior to his standard dinner time (8PM). Lately I've been putting a lot of effort into validating the feelings that underlie this behavior: He's hungry and doesn't understand why I'm not feeding him, it's frustrating to feel like he always has to remind me that it's going to be his dinner time soon, it's confusing for him because he knows I have cat food so why can't he have unlimited access to it, etc. However, he hasn't been all that responsive to my validation and the behavior isn't changing. Am I leaning too hard on the validation side of the validation-change dialectic?
