WELL, maybe I can help. Vandy is indeed an awesome school, and I didn't really realize it until I showed up there. The students were the nicest and friendliest I met anywhere. The faculty seems to be INSANELY nice and supportive (I sat through a lecture and the professor cracked jokes and seemed really chill at least) and the students talk about how great the professors are. The interviewer I had told me that he had been hired with the understanding that he'd welcome any and every med student who wanted to work with him- that's pretty awesome. The facilities are fantastic (great anatomy lab, great children's hospital) and it's all very student-centric. Nashville is, well.......interesting, but definitely in a good way, as far as I can tell. They have one of the highest average board scores in the country (like, top 3-- but take this with a grain of salt, since apparently this data isn't always super-accurate) and a great research project (the emphasis project) built into the curriculum. The residency match list (again, to be taken with a grain of salt) certainly looks extremely impressive.
Altogether, I fell totally in love with it when I went there, BUT if your top choice is definitely NJMS, then you should drop the interview and allow them to interview someone who really really wants to go there 🙂.
