For the first two weeks or so, I've done TPHR Verbal passages, and found that, although my scores improved towards the end, the passages were either "doable" or "extremely difficult." (I would either get 0 or 1 wrong on the "doable" and get as much as half wrong for the "extremely difficult" )

When I discovered that the person whom I bought the TPHR book from neglected to tell me that the other two sections of the book were written on 🙂rage🙂, I moved to BR. I've found that the difficulty on these passages overall decreased significantly. Some answers would copy and paste directly from the passage, and some passages would simply be too easy (Something I would read in middle school).

My question is, do the MCAT verbal passages reflect more of the BR or TPHR verbal passages in terms of difficulty?

TBR verbal is, at best, a waste of time, and, at worst, could hurt your confidence or make you focus on strategies that don't apply to the actual MCAT.

My scores on TBR verbal CBTs fluctuated wildly, and the passage lengths were extremely inconsistent--sometimes going from extremely short passages to extremely long ones, which made timing very difficult. The TBR verbal workbook is easier than the CBTS and focuses on literally being able to match words in the passage. These aren't the types of questions that are going to be on the MCAT.

TPRH is much more similar to AAMC passages, as is EK101. In truth though, there exists no practice material outside of old AAMC exams that completely mimics the actual MCAT.

Practice is practice. Although I've heard many people state that TRPH most closely resembles the MCAT verbal section.

I'm not sure how much time you are devoting to your MCAT studies, but I've encountered people who are consuming passages at a high rate. They're studying verbal from not only TPRH, but also EK, TBR, etc.

As someone who spent months and months struggling with VR and having tried all the books/resources out there, I can say:

TPR (by far the most accurate and representative) >> Kaplan (online stuff) >>> EK101 >>>>>>> Berkeley
