I took ochem at another college during one of the summers and I need to retake it during this summer at that same college, while hopefully, my app has already been submitted in early June.

Just wondering how they'll calculate the new grade into my cGPA, and if they'll consider this as "incomplete"?

Do I need to send in the original transcript from this college as well, even though it just shows (with no grade) that I took a course at another college in my own college transcript?

Kinda confusing to read what you wrote, but I'll try to answer.

1). Submit all transcripts from everywhere.

2). AACOMAS will use the new grade for the class WHEN THEY GET IT. Meaning if you submit your application before you finish the course, schools will see that you have the "bad" grade, but that you are "planning" on retaking it.

3). Schools will see your cGPA as the current, "bad" GPA without the retake until you finish that class and submit the new transcript. The new grade will override the old grade for your sGPA as well as your cGPA.

4). Don't quite understand the "incomplete" thing, but you just need to finish your pre-reqs before you *matriculate*, not before you apply. You should be good to go.

5). ????????????????

6). Profit

The only reason why I'm retaking the course during the summer is to let the school see the new grade and to increase my competitiveness. So what you're saying is I'll be verified with my app when all those jazz are submitted, but they'll pretty much base their decision on my 'old' gpa without the grade replacement?

It all depends on timing. If the class will be finished before you submit your application, then the grade will be replaced. If you submit before you get that grade, then initially schools will see the bad grade. Once you update aacomas with the new grade's transcript, schools will see the new grade. Overall, one class isnt going to make or break you. Get it done asap if you want that replacement grade.

Aiight. Thanks.

There's no way that I could retake it now, but I guess I'll just cross my fingers for the update at the end of August.

I was in a similar position. I'd submit all transcripts early summer (I submitted my Spring grades in early June), and then your new summer transcripts as soon as you get them in August. THat way, you're verified early enough to be competitive (in June/July), and if schools are floundering by mid-August you can send them an update letter saying "hey! look at my new GPA!"

Good to know! I didn't know you could send an update letter-- I guess that's my only option for now 😉
