does your friend want to stay in his/her home state; and if so, where is that?
there are 27 vet schools in the u.s. and some accredited schools outside the u.s. <i believe 3--soon to be 4--in canada, three in great britain, one in australia, and one in new zealand. when i say accredited, i mean that if your friend graduates from that vet school, he will not have to pay around $7000 to take a test to be certified to practice in the u.s.
each school has its own pre-req's and things they're looking for. most schools require at least a 3.4, but they also take into account your GRE score, your breadth of experience with animals <volunteer and work>; your letters of recommendation; your interview, yada yada yada...
