This is just a pointer to an I-Phone and I-touch Application called DIA.

Its a nice app, not as complete as the full version (well, not sure), but its big (200 megs for an app is kinda huge).

The point of this is, the full version costs ~$1500.00, while this Iphone app is currently FREE and completely legal - can get it right at the I-store.

I have no idea if it is going to stay free, but if its something anyone wants (or may want), might wanna go and grab it before they change their minds on the price.

P.S. If this is old news, or something everyone knows about, my mistake.

P.P.S Not as cool as I thought it would be, but ergh, still a fun little app.

P.P.P.S Anyone else have any apps they would like to share? I know there is a HUGE med. school community surrounding these apps, not much for vets however.

thanks for the tip! gonna download it now

I think I know the one you are talking about... I got really excited when I found it because I expected it to be similar to the Netter's Anatomy Flash Cards that I got for my wife to study with. Even though it could easily be described as "neat", sadly it doesn't even begin to compare to the human anatomy programs.

I've had it for awhile and I really don't think it's that great at all, but hopefully it'll pave the way for future programs that will continue to improve over time.

The hub said I can get an iPhone this summer... so excited! 😀

Lucky girl. I still can justify a $70/month data plan when there is WiFi at my house, school, work, eateries, erghh. Cant wait till Apple drops AT&T.

who do you have now? I can unlock the iPhone for you to work on other GSM carriers... =0)

I use mine with T-mobile with no data plan but if I wanted to get one it would only add 5.99 a month for their T-Zones unlimited and i get full speed EDGE internet...

I guess you guys haven't seen to ad for these ap's in any of the DVM magazines. They are intended more to be used as educational materials for showing clients than for you to study for your first year anatomy class.

r00 - Thanks for the offer 😀, but I can't get my hands on an iphone right now anyway ($$$). They've done a good job locking down the supplies, although I am working an a Russian model (think it comes unlocked, but still not sure if updating the firmware is gonna be a problem), so i'm holding out for the time being.

David, your right, I realized what it (DIA) was when I downloaded the PC demo version. If I finish my work soon enough and have the summer free, I think i will look into converting some of the human med. apps for vet. use. While I know the community is smaller, one HOT app can bring in some good $$, and the programming aspect isn't too hard. But thats a pipe dream (although, it would be a good way to get a leg up on my studies)

Guy on the phone said the data would only be an additional $30 a month. Also, rumor is... contract comes up in 2010 and Apple likely won't renew. 2 year contracts will remain obligatory though, I'm sure.

As a side note... keep an open mind with regards to the iphone. I mean it is a good phone and everything, as well as a good music player but I'm a bit mad at myself for not trying it out first. Although with the Aussie dollar right now I got a very good deal ($80/month includes 1gb data, $540 phone usage, insurance, and no extra output of cash for the 16gb model (i.e. no extra $200)). I'm just not entirely happy with the phone as it's missing some features from my blackberry pearl that I used way more than I thought (copy/paste, and forwarding text messages are two that come to mind). Basically it isn't as advanced of a phone as I would like it to be for it's purchase price.

I'm actually looking forward to seeing how well the Palm Pre performs when it comes out, really does look like a next step as far as smart phone software goes.

Anyhow, I'm rambling!

You asked about other iPhone apps for Vets, I have just released "A Vet Tool". It contains a complete small animal drug formulary, common blood value lab results, a conversion tool to do common conversions that a vet must do on a daily basis, a calculator to avoid having to exit the app just to do quick calculations, and a great note pad.
