You seem to have a lot of ECs. That's nice. I wouldn't worry too much about not having hobbies.
I hate to say it, I really avoid ever saying things like this and I hope it's not offensive, but with a 3.08 cgpa and 2.90sgpa, don't put something like gaming on there.
Yeah thats how I felt. My extra curriculars are all under volunteering, clubs etc. Even though my gpa is kinda ****ty, my last 2 years bio GPA is a 3.4, only reason there both so low is b/c I got 2 D's my freshman year second semester. One for a class I retook and actually TA'd last semester.

If you are one of those elite gamers it does actually take a good bit of hand eye skill. Also, wasn't there an article showing how video games improved surgeons motor skills? If, you have a positive trend your over-all usually won't matter that much. Put it down if you want. It could be a talking point.

As jeffity pointed out, OP has a decent amount of ECs (tutoring, swimming, research etc.) that a lower GPA may not just be attributed to gaming.
With that said, 5-6 hours daily might be excessive and definitely contributes. I would not include it as others have said because ADCOMs will definitely have the same viewpoint as Illini. If you leave it out, they'll just think that your lower GPA is due to your ECs, not because of gaming. 👍

I would argue against this unless OP has actually won awards or world-known tournaments. Then you will have something to talk about.
A tournament with your friends on a weekend is not something I would put, for example.
No need to feel bad. Its the truth. I know my shots not the best. Im avg'ing 20+ on almost all sections of the DAT, so hopefully that will offset it a bit.
It was my mistakes freshman year. Hopefully if I am looked at as more than just a GPA there is no doubt in my mind that a dental school will take me.
Plus I have some really good LOR's 🙂

Think you can tell where that GPA comes from if 25% of your day is spent playing video games. Definately do not include on your app.
The difference is that your GPA (if I recall correctly) wasn't sub-3. If you have an above average GPA, then sure include video gaming. Otherwise, people will make association whether or not it's true or not.
Let's be honest; 6 hours consumed by staring into a TV screen, is 6 hours not available for studying. We're talking 40+ hours a week? The association will be made, and it wouldn't be wrong to make it. Might as well put down fingerpainting.
That's it! That explains the look of disgust from all my female interviewers. All along I thought it was my suit.

I probably wouldn't list gaming as a EC (since playing that much can be detrimental to your academics as others have said and you don't want to indicate that to adcoms),
but I am thinking of putting gaming under manual dexterity as dantemac did.
I'd like to think the average gamer gets some hand eye coordination benefit too 😀

Put something unique for manual dexterity; I build ships in bottles, or monogramming a t shirt. Magic tricks. String instruments.

I'll call you when they throw out my 3.95GPA, academic awards, numerous other man dexterity activities, 100's of hours of everything, etc.. etc... because I put down something I enjoy doing.
I agree to put something unique for manual dexterity. Not so much to impress them with your dexterity, but more so to hopefully have some good conversation points at interviews. It seems like the best spot on the app to show your personality and creativity, I am not sure that I would waste this part of the app talking about video games.

Keep your hopes up, Impulse. With that said, let's go back to the original question. In your situation, I would not put gaming as an EC UNLESS you can defend it with a legitimate named tournament that can be found online/has a website etc.
Tutoring Organic Chemistry isn't just a sidejob you take up, either. It requires knowledge of the subject and ability to communicate it clearly to your... tutoree? mentee? 😛
From one sub-3er to another. It's probably time to put away the video games, at least, for the next 4 years. 😉

Yeah I tutored small groups for free, and 2 private kids. One with a disability and going into the final I had him getting a B+ in the class. The other kid became rank #2 overall. The kid rank #2 overall I did for free, he ended up going to the professors and telling them how amazing I was.

I like to hunt, so I considered putting down my vast experience field dressing and butchering game. Not everyone may like it, but it sure is relevant. 🙂

If I can pull my bio and che up. Which shouldnt be too hard. With all my EC's and stuff (look at predents for more info). Think I can get in. Someone recently also posted that whole Holistic application thing. I feel thats amazing for me.

I have never gotten below a B in any of my upper division sciences either. Its just the intros which killed me 🙁
