It sends them automatically.Does VIRMP send reminders to the letter of rec people? Or do I have to manually hit "resend email"?
Yes, that goes to everyone.Did everyone get an email yesterday titled "VIRMP Application Packet Status" -- it seemed like it was essentially an email that had the reminder of the deadline to submit the application and a blurb about the letters of recommendation. I already applied to programs so I just wanted to ensure that all applicants received this email and it wasn't specific to any single applicant. Thanks!
I actually feel this so spiritually 😆 T-minus 60 hours til apps are due and I think I've finally just reached the "this is fine... it has to be" mentality. Being on ER (2 weeks overnights + 2 weeks day) during the busiest time of the year while battling burnout and imposter syndrome was not conducive to writing this. Luckily I'm applying for ECC residency so hopefully they understand.Manifesting this being my last time going through Match. Mainly so I never have to write another personal statement.

Correct. If you do not rank a program, you cannot match there.Hello everyone! I had a quick clarification question related to applying. I know the application date for programs is due very soon, and I am a very indecisive person haha. My current list is very short but I am nervous about if I hate a program I applied to if we do an interview. I was reading previous threads saying that if you do not rank a place you apply to, that is basically saying you do not wish to match with them: is that true? Basically, TLDR, if I apply to a program and decide it is definitely not for me, if I do not rank it, it will not be considered?
Awesome thank you!Correct. If you do not rank a program, you cannot match there.
It depends on how much you want to leave things up to chance. I applied to both last year and ranked both because I was applying for a very competitive specialty where the odds of matching to a residency straight from rotating were not great. But I'm the kind of person who wants to have everything planned out as far ahead as possible, and putting myself in a situation where there were high odds of scrambling wasn't something I was comfortable with. For those that have applied to both residency and specialty internships in the same cycle - did you feel like applying to/ranking internships was a poor move because it eliminated your chance to scramble for a residency, or the safer move because it meant if you got the specialty internship, you had that placement secured?
Send your letter writers another reminder. VIRMP sends one out about a week in advance, but it doesn't hurt to send one yourself as well. It's not being annoying, it's ensuring that your letter writers are following through on a commitment they made.I guess I should have asked for 4 LORs just so I wouldn't be in this situation where it's the day before the deadline and I don't have the minimum number submitted yet. Super stressed about this.
I did this morning and got a reply thank god... I feel like I'm being annoying but oh well.Send your letter writers another reminder. VIRMP automatically updates so that programs always see the most updated version of your application, regardless of when you applied.Last minute question about LORs -- I had 3 LOR and clicked "apply" to the programs that I am interested in. Today, a clinician offered to be a 4th LOR for me and I think that it would be a strong letter, so I would like to go ahead and add the 4th letter. I went ahead and entered their information into the LOR section and they said that it would be completed today. My question is, since I already applied to the program and did not have this professor's information submitted as an LOR, will I need to re-apply once this letter is submitted later today, or will it automatically update and send my 4th letter to the programs that I have already applied to? I know that VIRMP processes LOR past the deadline, but I wasn't sure if the fact that I did not input the LOR writer's information until today (after I have already applied) if that changes anything, and I just want to ensure that this final letter is received by my programs. Thanks in advance!
On which platform? I don't see one on here or on LinkedIn 🤔@supershorty, please check your inbox for a DM sent to you from me. Thanks! 🙂
Hey! I'm also considering U Penn. Have you been able to talk with any former interns there? Would love to hear your thoughts on the program!Hello, looking for some advice regarding academic small animal rotating internships.
I’m a current 4th year veterinary student that will be entering the match for a small animal rotating internship this year. I am interested in pursuing Neurology and would like to stay in academia (past internship and residency as well) but who knows what will happen.
I would love to chat with anyone who has experience in the following academic small animal rotating internship program or Neurology residency.
Cornell
NC State
Ohio State
Colorado State
University of Georgia
University of Illinois
University of Minnesota
U Penn
University of Wisconsin-Madison
Texas A&M
Tufts
I am planning on contacting programs directly to be connected to current/past interns as well but thought I would reach out on here if anyone would be willing to provide advice.
Literally quoting to say this this so much this! Now comes the part where people start to worry about their chances and whether places will rank them back or not. Some places may interview, others may not. But remember, the algorithm favors the applicants choices, so it’s okay to rank a program you may not have strong chances at. If you rank a program highly and they don’t rank you back, it just drops down to the next school on your list trying to make a match, no harm no foul. So rank programs how you really want them, don’t waste energy worrying about if they rank you back, don’t rank any you don’t truly want to match to, and may the odds be in your favor.
Some of the programs may say things like you’re a “top applicant” or something but there’s no way to know if that’s actually true or if they’re just giving lip service hoping to have a long list and avoid having to scramble, so don’t let a program’s response to you sway your desires. If you interview somewhere and don’t like the vibe or info you learn, you don’t have to rank them…if you don’t rank them you won’t match there. If you rank them, you might.
If you don’t understand how the match works, there’s good YouTube videos about it online because the VIRMP match works the same way the human NRMP match works.
i got a few interviews but they were with programs who said they interview all applicantsanyone got any interviews yet? i know its only early days, but people on Reddit have said that some programs have sent out invites already 😭 a girl is just stressin hahah
I got my first one today, but it is a private specialty position. At the very least, make it known that you are applying. But I think it would be fine to express your interest in interviewing since they explicitly state they'll interview "all interested applicants."I'm applying for an internship at a clinic I'm currently externing at, my externship ends at the end of the month. According to their VIRMP listing they require an interview and say "All interested applicants" will be interviewed and they "...welcome students to inquire about interviews, we will also reach out to applicants to set up interviews." Is it appropriate for me to speak directly to the program director at the clinic about setting up an interview? Or should I just wait for them to approach me?
Only NCSU and Missouri so far, but those are programs where you request an interview. Do you want to DM?Has anyone heard from any diagnostic imaging programs yet?
I did my rotating at one of these institutions and am happy to answer specific questions over PM.If anyone is a small animal rotating intern or recently completed a rotating at any of the following hospitals, I'd love to hear more about your experience. I'm trying to get as many perspectives as possible.

I have one friend who's heard from Mizzou and another who's heard from Midwestern but that's it so far!IM residency check in - has anyone heard back from any academic institutions yet about interviews?
Does this include the medicine emphasis rotating? Or just specialtyPer reddit NCSU is reaching out to specialty intern applicants. I have not heard from UF or NCSU rotating myself.
I checked spam and there's nothing there. I'm just not sure if it's something I should reach out about or if they're a practice that only interviews people they're interested in hahaYes, I got an email to schedule an interview on January 6th. Did it go to your spam?
