To those who were accepted to MSUCOM and chose to visit the campus for a tour, what was the tour day like for you? I have the itinerary, but it would be great to know more about what to expect. How formal did you dress? How many students were in the group? How closely did you get to speak with those involved with the tour? How much walking was involved? Thanks! 🙂

The tour is really informal and really relaxed. You get to hear a few talks about school related stuff which is all important and useful. They even talk to you about some cool over seas stuff that you can do as electives during your rotations.

By far the best part was lunch with the student because I felt I got really good and honest answers. Also, I wasn't afraid to ask her anything, including apartments and things like that. It lets you get a good idea of what the immediate future will be like.

There was me and one other person, both in suits, which I imagine would be appropriate. I've heard people in the department saying you don't have to wear a suit (already admitted remember) but I figure it was a good idea to look nice. Walking was fairly minimal, mostly in the main building and then to lunch and back.

Hope I covered everything, I was really impressed and hopefully you will be too!

I agree with everything said above.. The lunch was great just because you can ask questions you might not want to pose to the admissions people. The students volunteer for this and not made to do it so they are really helpful and into the experience. I went to MSU for undergrad, as did the other guy I was with, so the part about MSU life and East Lansing we got to skip over (because we had already lived there for 4 years) and just talk with Kathie Schafer which was fun. I would say even though accepted, a suit (if your a guy) or dressy clothing if you're a girl would be appropriate. It is a tour, and professionalism in dress is probably appreciated if not required. It's a good time, plus it reminds you of the joys of eating in a caf haha

Thanks for the responses! More are welcome if anyone else has something to add 🙂
