Hi all,
Im flying to Ann Arbor this following week. A lot of posts mention Island Drive Appartments and the Medical school appts. Are there any other places I should really check out while im there?

Im going to take a campus tour and meet some of the faculty. Any thing in particular I should check out in the school or city?

Thanks

Now that Im here at UM I have some good news. International students can apply to become a GSI which basically means you teach an undergraduate course for a department like biology. If you find a GSI position you can get either a half or full tuition waiver, I dont remember off the top of my head. Its very hard to get when you arrive to the school, but is possible to find the following term. Its is competative, and takes time to find. I was under the impression that international students could not become GSI's but thats because some international students do not have the english proficiency that the undergraduate department wants for a teacher.

For domestic students, the GSI is available as well as scholarship and fellowship which all reduce tuition substantionall to fully depending on the program.

There is also a language program whereby if you get into the program, you learn a language for a year and waive that years tuition!! That is open to either domestic or international students.
