Has anyone else been asked to do this/ is doing it? I got an e-mail today about it...and was curious how many other people are agreeing to fill out the app when we can't use it again...

I got the e-mail too... when I sent in my info to volunteer I was assuming that it would turn into my real application in the fall, so now I'm not as sure if I will do it. I will probably try, but we'll see!
On a similar note, is there a way to import data from a previous application into a new application?

Ugh I tried to import my old one...but it doesn't even recognize your old account name..you have to make a new one...I literally just copied and pasted my old PS and stuff like that though...we'll see if I have the patience to finish it...

From their standpoint, the point of it is to try to break it. So I don't really know how much benefit there is into copying and pasting all of your info from last year into it. From ours, it's a way to learn the app better and try to clear up any questions we have about it beforehand. It's not a way to fill out your own application early, just a way to "give back" a little while learning about any changes they made.
Though the email does suggest that you could print out what you fill out and use it to fill out your app during the summer. That might be a nice thing, to have all that info in one place when you apply for real.
