I just got this email...

"Greetings,

The 2009 VMCAS application will launch early June 2008. This is an exciting time for the VMCAS application as it is being upgraded to a new system. Before we launch the new system, we are asking students and school admissions staff to assist us in testing the application. We will open the application for testing from Wednesday, April 16, 2008 until Tuesday, April 22, 2008.

If you are interested in helping us test the application and identify problems or ways to improve the application, please send an email as soon as possible to Shaba Lightfoot at [email protected] with your name and your email address. Please put “Application Tester” in the subject line. Testers will be contacted with instructions once the application is ready.

If you are applying through this year’s VMCAS application, the testing process will allow you a sneak peek into the brand new application that will be launched in June.

Please help us deliver a top-notch product. Your input is invaluable.

If you have any questions, I can be contacted by email at [email protected] or on the Student & Advisor Hotline at our toll-free number
1 (877) 866-2740.

Thank you for your assistance.

Thanks,

So did I...deleted it though. Too busy, and I'm obviously not reapplying. 🙂

I did this, it was helpful to see what the actual VMCAS app looks like so I could plan accordingly. I didn't get a chance to fill it out and submit it in the beta test version, but I'm glad I got to look at it.

Now a warning to all those using VMCAS this year....

For the love of god (and your sanity), submit the VMCAS app before the Oct 1st deadline!!!

The VMCAS system crashed several 😡 several times in the weeks leading up to the Oct 1st deadline. True story. Just look at how many of us freaked out on the boards last year because of it.

You will save yourself the massive headache by submitting as soon as you're ready....which hopefully be long before Oct 1.

As someone who waited until the day before (I was re-re-super double checking everything - I just wanted to be extra sure) I think I subscribed to a future ulcer each time I pressed submit only to be denied. I'm willing to bet $5 that the system will go down this year too, so please help yourself and get it done ahead of time.

Really. I tell you because I love you! Don't put it off!!

:::steps off soapbox::::

bumping this up from last year:
Basically VMCAS wants people to test the new version... I believe the first sentence has a typo and means it will launch in June 2009. Now since there is no way I will ever go near VMCAS again, I wanted to post this for people applying this year in case they want to play around with it.

The email from VMCAS:

Greetings,

The 2010 VMCAS application will launch early June 2008. Before we launch this year’s application, we are asking students and school admissions staff to assist us in testing the application.

This is an excellent opportunity for applicants to familiarize themselves with the application prior to the roll-out in June. We will open the application for testing as soon as Wednesday, April 8, 2009 and will test for approximately three weeks.

To sign up for testing, please send an email as soon as possible to [email protected] with your name and your email address. Please put “Application Tester” in the subject line. Testers will be contacted with instructions once the application is ready.

Please help us deliver a top-notch product. Your input is invaluable.

I signed up for this as well. Hopefully it will give people a head start on information to collect that they don't have. Seems like a wonderful idea anyway.

I sent in my info for this awhile ago, but got no reply. Is this normal?

I sent my info a while back...I haven't heard back either.
