I've only had experience in our community free clinic with the general stuff - hypertension, diabetes, etc. For those of you involved in more neuro specific stuff, both domestic and (perhaps more importantly for my question) internationally, what areas in neuro seem the most applicable to charity (MSF)-type work? I would think that general neurology would be best because of the lack of diagnostic equipment, etc., (not sure doing EEGs would be a good return on investment with limited funds) but wanted to get input on the major areas of neurology from others.

Also, anyone know residency programs that have formal charity-type rotations setup? I believe that URochester as well as Vandy have 'em and was told that one can do an elective through UCSF as well. Any others? This will be an important criterion for me in deciding residency location.

Thanks.
