Hello,
What do you guys think of volunteering at the therapeutic recreation and rehabilitation? I don't know if Should I chose ER volunteering or therapeutic '''...''.. I asked my premed advisor and he told me to spend my time doing something else worth it.
Any idea I appreciate it thank you 🙂

Your pre-med adviser advised you not to volunteer at a therapeutic recreation and rehabilitation center? Did you ask why s/he felt that way? I can't imagine it not being a good opportunity to put in some hours volunteering. Do whichever one you feel you'll enjoy or get more out of.

I think you should do what you think you would enjoy the most. Don't just volunteer in the ER because you feel that you have to or that you think it will look better. If you are interested in doing both, is it possible for you to do both?

Do something you'll enjoy. From my experience, ER is a bunch of supply refilling and chart stuffing. You might get lucky seeing big trauma cases if you volunteer at a Trauma 1/2 center.

I was actually convinced by my volunteer coordinator to do child life playroom volunteering instead of ER. She said it had more patient interaction and more "substance." I'm pretty glad I took her word.

So pretty much, do something you'll enjoy. Not what your premed advisor wants. You seem to like the Rec and Rehab volunteer options so go for it! It's seem pretty interesting too with lots of patient interaction!

Pro Tip:

Don't put a lot of stock into what pre-med advisers say. They are notorious for providing inaccurate information.

Yes I'm interested to do both of them🙂 but I prefer to spend my free time at therapeutic&rehab .. I haven't volunteered much my premed advisor beleives that voluntering there it's not going to help me much because most premed students do higher qualified voluntering .. When I asked him what kind of voluntering he told me I have to search myself 😕I don't know .. "I'm searching " so ..😳
Thank you for your help everyone
