No, I'm not eating in front of them 😀

I scored a volunteer position at SAH (SWEEET) and well, I met one of the pharmacists there (who was in a hurry) and got in really good with the Pharmacy Techs but the Pharmacists were just enamoured with their computers and didn't even look up. I asked the Techs and they said they're busy, ALL the time so...it lead me to wonder.

At some point, I know I'll need a pharmacist's recommendation (perhaps not require but it would be nice plus I'd like their input on the profession as well as wise advise) but what do you do when they're so busy and unapproachable? I'd feel like I'm stepping on their toes by trying to talk to them.

Hi, I am glad you managed to get in at Sah. I also volunteered there until I got accepted at UT and even now I go there once in a while to volunteer -though not at the pharmacy. Everybody was really nice there : Stewart(the director) gave me a rec letter(not sure what was in it since it was sealed) but he noticed me because I was pretty regular for a few months , almost every week and just offered to give a rec himself!
So my advice to you is be regular, try to get to know them , they do come and talk to you once in a while esp during lunch hours. Then you can easily ask them for a rec when the time comes.
Don't worry about trying to chat with the pharmacists everyday, there are pharmacy students there too for their rotations and you can learn a lot from them as well.

Be friendly and approachable. Ask them questions when you think it's appropriate. Ask them for advice in the application process. And give it time...you don't have to form a great relationship with them overnight.
